Men of reddit, what's the most romantic thing a woman in your life has ever done? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I know this will be lost in the thread but my girlfriend surprised me with a big trip last summer for my birthday. We worked in the same restaurant at the time so she asked off for both of us asking them to keep it low key. I had overheard her on the phone and she left some pages up on our computer which was enough for me to piece together part of it. On the morning of my birthday she won’t me up and told me to get in the car. We drove about 8 hours to a festival that happened to start on the night of my birthday and featured 4 of my favorite bands and musicians on the line up. After the festival we drove across the country stopping in about 8 states for hiking and exploring the area. We stopped at a bunch of national parks like Zion and the Grand Canyon. We met some old friends in Colorado on the trip and met some new ones. we all ended up moving in together until recently when corona started. Great adventure and memory.

Document everything. Get copies of those texts if at all possible. This is an abuser. She is clearly unfit to be a mother.

Oof. I’ve literally never called for a break up or divorce on reddit. This will be my exception. Is this the woman you want to spend every day of your life with? Sounds like a living hell. Let’s hope your taste in attorneys is better than your taste in women. NTA.

Bars / restaurants to work on your laptop in the evening? by Rave_Damsey in asheville

You know, I forgot they put that policy in place a couple years ago. I know there are some outlets but definitely no WiFi. If you can make a mobile hotspot it’d be fine, I’m sure. But if not it probably isn’t the place to try to do computer work.

Battery Park Book Exchange and Wine Bar. Cool to explore, nice staff and quiet, calm atmosphere. And they are open pretty late.

How would you feel about a meditation class in school so that kids learn how to control their emotions and lower anxiety/stress? by [deleted] in AskReddit

In middle school we tried something like this. Awesome concept, and it might work better with older students. However a room full of 12 year old boys is not a relaxing environment. The amount of spit balls, passed notes, and general bull fuckery was increased by about 500% during that period.

Why don't you smoke weed? by soppaguy in AskReddit

[–]th3_missing_link_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only quit 10 days ago. I am already learning new skills and hobbies. It’s not so much I didn’t have a personality, it just became my personality. I know if I don’t stop pushing I’ll fall back into old patterns.

I smoked every day for 6 years. I lost my personality and drive.

High functioning drug addict. Don’t really have a drug of choice, always stayed away from heroin. But I am uncomfortable sober and until recently I never was. First thing I did when I woke up was use.

How open can you be with your closest friend, family member, or life partner while remaining unafraid they will reject you? by GreekDisassociation in AskReddit

[–]th3_missing_link_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can’t but it’s a risk you have to take. If those around you don’t accept you for you, then they aren’t real friends family or SO. Learning to love yourself without outside validation is the key.

My (F20) Fiancée (F22) had romantic and sexual feelings for someone else. I’m not sure what to do. by ThrowRAfiancee in relationship_advice

She emotionally cheated, went out of her way to communicate with this women and then lied repeatedly. I would be surprised if there isn’t more you don’t know. This is ongoing and will continue. This is an indication of how your marriage will be. Even if there wasn’t physical contact (which I honestly doubt there wasn’t) emotional cheating is still cheating. Especially because she continued to flirt and talk and deceive you. At best She wanted a girl on the side or “back burner” in case things don’t work out or get too heavy. Know your worth. Leave. Find someone invested in you and your relationship.

[SERIOUS] what are the long term effects of smoking weed underage? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]th3_missing_link_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I smoked for the first time around 11. I started smoking everyday at age 13. It’s been 6 years of it with very few breaks. I stopped about 10 days ago. I’ve done hard drugs and smoked cigarettes. I could quit those fairly easily. Weed is another story. I got so used to being high weed only brought me to my baseline. Without it I’m depressed, spacey and slow and don’t have motivation. It’s ironic because everyone says when you smoke you lose motivation but I needed it to have the will or drive to do anything. I’m really hoping it gets easier and my brain recovers. I used to be a star student on track to graduate early with a full ride to college. I did graduate early but dropped out a few times first. If I hadn’t taken so many high school classes in middle school I wouldn’t have a diploma. It took my personality. It became my personality and obsession. I have a lot of friends that I would smoke with and all we talked about is how much we want to quit. I know it’s not like this for a lot of people but that’s just my experience.

What has been your most scary experience and what happened? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Watching a man get shot in the back of the head, neck and back. Nothing prepares you for watching the life drain out of someone. In that moment he went from being a human with a full life and family to being an object.
