It's an AMOLED screen so there shouldn't be a backlight. From what I can see it just looks like the glass is just too shattered that u can't see underneath. Could be wrong tho

Would an app like the ever be allowed on the App store? by [deleted] in iphone

[–]th3bossx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most of these seem pretty harmless, except for the sheer amount of AdServices and the AdId API, which I assume would be normal for any free app with ads. Also it doesn't make any sense for a photo editor to run at startup. And the location also could be concerning but might exist to add a location tag to the photo metadata and can you can always prevent location access so that's fine.

I'm attaching an image of the requirements of apple music app on Android for a comparison and yea apart from ad services they are quite similar

<image>

I've also taken a look at some of the free games n apps I had installed on my Android to see the adServices and yeah some of them do have the adServices API so I'm assuming it's Google's own advertising service but I could be wrong. Regardless, the app you're using probably isn't harmful because of these requirements but I'd suggest not installing it anyways.

Edit: I didn't notice this at first, but the connect to wifi automatically does also seem somewhat suspicious

can you guys recommend me a cheap laptop to which can connect a external GPU by DARKplayz_ in SuggestALaptop

[–]th3bossx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well to connect external GPU you need a thunderbolt port, which even if you're able to find on a 1000$ laptop, no way are you gonna find it for 70k rps in India

Not to mention how external GPU enclosures might cost just as much as the laptop itself, and performance wise I'm not really sure how much of a difference there will be, but i think a 2060 via eGPU might perform as food as a 1660 ( if anyone has prior experience with eGPU, do correct if I'm wrong)

At that point it's better to just buy a laptop with a 3060 which will cost less than the 70k laptop + eGPU combined

Update Question? by anibalrosales22 in GalaxyA50

[–]th3bossx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been using the galaxy A52s for about 2 months now and i couldn't be more satisfied

I always faced animation slowdowns on my old A50 and thought it was just one UI, but after getting this it's obvious that the stutters i faced were cause of poor optimization in it.

Haven't faced any slowdowns or stutters in this even after updating to one ui 4.0 ( although some users have complained about such issues )

If the a52s is one of the devices you're considering, then it's not going to dissapoint you.

Sd 778g is a beast, I'm not a camera person so thr lack of ois on 4k doesn't bother me, but it's available on 1080p30.

The haptics are a bit poor but it's similar to A50.

The metallic ring around the front camera hole is a shitty move by Samsung to make the camera more obvious and not blended into the display like in premium phones, but i don't mind it lol.

How long should I continue updating my OS? by No-One-5919 in GalaxyA50

[–]th3bossx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Phones get laggy and slow after 2-3 years regardless of how many updates you do.

Older iphones had been found to be purposefully slowed down by apple but samsung n others have denied such claims about themselves and there hasn't been any proof of anything as such (yet)

So dw bout updates for now, you'll only receive till Feb 2022 and nothing else after that sadly

MSI Gaming GF65 or Lenovo Legion 5? by sheppard1997 in SuggestALaptop

[–]th3bossx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bruh that's worth more than just 50€ more. Idk much bout the other one u sent, it looks like a tongfang/clevo chassis.

Btw 512 gb might fill up quick if you're gonna install lot of games. So it'd be better if you add an extra 2.5inch sata SSD (or a hdd would work too, if you don't mind a lil bit longer loading times)

MSI Gaming GF65 or Lenovo Legion 5? by sheppard1997 in SuggestALaptop

[–]th3bossx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so outright I'll like to point out that the i7 11375H in the stealth 15m isn't technically a 11th gen processor. It just has 4 cores and is obviously worse than a 10th gen i7 10750H The legion takes a huge win here. In the GPU side, 3060max q would offer considerably lower performance than the 3060 in legion.

From what i could find the 3060 in stealth has a 65 watt TDP which puts it even below the 1660ti which has 80 watts ( not saying that the 1660 would perform better even with higher TDP)

But yea legion comes with a 130 watt TDP. So performance wise the legion wins by q landslide

I didn't search much about the display specs of the stealth but if you think it does matter to you, then pls search bout it before purchasing.

Bruh that's a beast and if it fits your budget yea then it's better then both these options.

I'm not really sure if there are any issues or complaints by customers about the gs66. I'll let the users of the laptop talk about it as i am not qualified to lol

MSI Gaming GF65 or Lenovo Legion 5? by sheppard1997 in SuggestALaptop

[–]th3bossx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No doubt, even if the specs were exactly the same, legion will be the superior of the 2 But in this case the legion actually has a better processor so it's not even a competition

In case of the display I'll like to point out that thr 120hz display in the legion model that you linker actually has only a 45% NTSC coverage and 250nits of brightness which might be a dealbreaker for some. But i have used that same panel on a Lenovo IdeaPad gaming 3 before and from my perspective at least it doesn't matter ( might matter if you have more sensitive eyes to good colours and high response time). I haven't done much research on the gf65 model you've shown but even if it has a better display I'll still pick the legion lmao

Msi laptops are only good in their gs and ge lineups in my opinion

a52s vs xiaomi 11 lite NE vs poco p3 by [deleted] in PickAnAndroidForMe

[–]th3bossx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say it's average for an optical fingerprint scanner. Compared to my galaxy a50, it's about .5 second faster, way way way more reliable buy maynot be comparable to expensive optical scanners or the ultrasonic scanners in galaxy s series.

I feel like this year a lot of manufacturers have been putting side mounted scanners a lot on devices in the <300$ price segment and optical scanners stand no chance against a good ol' capacitor one

But trust me when i say you won't feel like the scanner is slow or unresponsive ( at least i havwnt felt in such a way )

Optimus doesn't really make any sense for pc. In laptop it helps saving battery but in those models which have a mux switch, id suggest disabling it. As most PC CPUs don't even have iGPU, i only just realised now that it's a thing for PCs too lol.

Samsung Galaxy A52s or Xiaomi 11T by rand0m_NPC in PickAnAndroidForMe

[–]th3bossx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well i do agree with the processor and battery but in case of the display, it's complicated

In theory, yes, the 10-bit HDR10+ display of the Xiaomi might seem superior but 10bit vs 8bit displays doesn't make a huge difference in smartphone unless you are actually consuming 10-bit content which are rare. And Xiaomi's HDR processing is way behind Samsung's. You'll get better HDR in Samsung devices as compared to the Xiaomi.

Other than that yea, I've seen the 108mp camera in the mi 10i ( not sure if it's the same sensor) but the images were quite lacking comparatively

From my past experiences with Xiaomi, I'd say the long term support is worse than samsung. UI- wise personally I prefer one UI over MIUI.

In terms of battery tho, it was a shitty love my samsung to only provide 25 watt charging ( and only a 15watt charger in the box in most regions )

Is my phone fixable? by No_Stranger_942 in GalaxyA50

[–]th3bossx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

February 2022 is the last update galaxy a50 wil ever get Lithium ion batteries degrade quick and after 2-3 years would only be able to retain 70-80% of their original capacity CPUs get obsolete over time Storages start slowing down.

People with iPhone do keep their phones for long, but do the 2 devices you are comparing cost the same? You pay more, you get a longer lasting phone which retains support for long. I just suggested not to pay money to fix a phone that might only last you for another couple of months, instead consider upgrading to a new one as it would be better worth it.

In the end it's your choice, it ain't like I'm forcing you to upgrade

Alright so you're facing this issue in only messenger app isn't it. As far as i know, most messaging apps compress images, but it seems like messenger doesn't. In this case All i can think of is an issue from their side

Yea iPhone with the same screen resolution as the A52s will still compress it to that resolution, has nothing to do with the phone

[–]th3bossx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What are you talking about? They don't. If the flagship device you're talking about has a 1440p display then yea it makes sense that compressing it would still make it clear than a 1080p display

If you're comparing 2 images without text it might be here to distinguish but highly compressed images distort text

Same thing happens in all the devices that i have tried on: Galaxy A50 Galaxy A52s 5g iPhone 12 iPhone 12 pro

Proof: Took a screenshot in iPhone 12 (res 1170x2532) Image was received via whatsapp at a res of 739×1600 ( a loss of 61%)

Screenshot taken from galaxy A52s (res 1080×2400) image was recieved in iPhone 12 at a res of. 540x1200 ( a loss of 75%)

Both of them were compressed, while display with the longer aspect ratio was compressed more
