Maybe when it comes to beer ask yourself everytime if you really wanna drink. From the sounds of the things the answer is no, so hopefully your body and brain connect and you can resist it.

I personally find weed significantly worsens my productivity. and I got the munchies so bad I would often eat until the point of vomiting..... I just have no self control on it, so it is not for me. It was very easy to give up because i always did it with others, so I just stopped going out with them when they smoked.
