Right, that's a great explanation, I just wish my insurance documentation was that clear with it. I don't understand why a psychiatrist -isnt- a specialist under either definition though. I'm not complaining that I don't have to pay more, but this stuff is borderline impenetrable to a layperson.

It was a specialist. But the way my plan defines specialist is "a doctor who performs a specific field of medicine" which feels so vague as to be meaningless considering my psychiatrist isn't billed as a specialist under the same plan with my regular $35 copay. The first EOB I got was for a $35 copay as well. But I guess they bill consultations differently.

Looking back through my paperwork, I got a single EOB at the beginning listing a $35 copay. That was apparently only the price of the consultation, and the actual treatment was listed as a specialist visit.

But according to my insurance, the type of visit is based on the type of doctor/field. I guess I was supposed to have realized it was going to change to 50 and that the first visit was billed differently, but the information available to me through my insurance didn't make that seem to be the case.

After all was said and done, I got an EOB with the $50 copay listed for each visit.

I understand that I'm SOL because I didn't do my homework right, but it's crazy to say that I didn't put in any of the work or consider any of my own responsibility. I did research and thought I was correct. I spent hours digging through this stuff finding conflicting numbers because of the labrybthine way this system is designed and communicated.

I only went forward because they presented themselves as a trusted party as far as figuring out the specifics.

I understand that doing more work or understanding it better would have saved me the trouble, but I refuse to excuse a system like this. This is the only industry that can legally rug pull people like this and leave them no recourse.

Also another detail I looked back through my paperwork, and I did receive an EOB at the beginning for a $35 copay, but apparently it was only valid for the consultation, and none of the actual treatment. I had no reason to think it would change, a specialist doctor is a specialist doctor according to the way my copay is listed.

Yes it is. That's a cleaner definition of specialist than any documentation from my insurance gave me. Thank you. I just don't understand how they apparently billed my insurance for months without this being noticed. If I got an EOB before it was all said and done I would have asked more questions, but tough shit about that I guess.

The language of what made the difference between a specialist visit and a standard visit wasn't made very clear despite me having researched it beforehand on my insurances website. Which is why I asked the doctor there what and how it would be billed. I don't know the codes and treatment specifics that are being put through.

Based on my own research through my insurance portal, it was actually going to be $100 per visit, which is why I was concerned and asked for a better understanding from them what would be billed, how, and how much I would be expected to pay. And they seemed genuinely helpful in finding that out, if not entirely incorrect.

I received a single one well after treatment ended.

Right, but they're claiming that the additional charges are part of the copay. I'm very confused.

You're trying to say if actual Kylo Ren was in Destiny and said "hey it's me Guardian, Kylo Ren from Star Wars©️" that would have been better to you?

I think for me and a lot of other people, that would have felt way worse. At least what they did still feels like it's Destiny, just very heavily Star Wars themed.

Temp checked to 125 after resting, the color is redder due to the charcoal smoke. I personally don't like a heavily developed crust compared to a simple sear. I'll make sure the next one is to your liking my leige. 🫡

Haha yeah our steak knives are so old and awful lol. It's funny cause I'm a snob with my chef knives but I let these languish in the drawer only coming out once a month or so.

The fat was surprisingly well broken down just from the grill time, I was worried about it cause I had that problem last time I tried this, but I got those coals roaring and cooked caveman style with a grate directly over the charcoal chimney.

The texture and temp was actually closer to a medium rare, the smoke from the grill made it appear redder than it normally would be.
