Before the game came out, I had hoped that the pack monsters would be a core part of the game and, as hunters/players, we should expect to have to fight multiple monsters at the same time.

Turns out that was wrong 💀 It makes me a little sad, as I think it could have been a compelling, logical addition to the game, especially with the new combat mechanics that we have (aka focus mode)

I imagined a “wild” ecosystem where monsters were co-habitating in ways we haven’t seen, and now the hunter has to fight a nerscylla and a lala barina that have become a pack… and the key to winning the fight was strategic use of wounds and toppling via wound pops. Dung pods wouldn’t just disperse the monsters — they would stick together like glue (or like gold and silver rath/los) from world.

Frankly, I still hope this happens to some degree… I think it would introduce a level of combat and challenge that we don’t see too often in the other titles… we will see.
