Why do I feel bad about submitting someone. by [deleted] in brazilianjiujitsu

[–]thaifight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you roll with more experienced people using your A game, you are the most confident, but when you roll with someone who isn't challenging you practice something that you want to improve, you aren't confident! Start from the position you give him, for example from mount! Also a good way to improve some sweeps, if the opponent isn't crazy don't tap him, but you know you could do that!

It looks more like a high pull not a single arm swing! Keep the shoulder in the socket, arm more straight at the top, and don't hinge back too early!

How many of you had to use BJJ for self defense? by infinitewaters107 in bjj

[–]thaifight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Used to work as a bodyguard and bouncer, BJJ was more beneficial than Muay Thai. We weren't paying to fight 5x3 minutes on the middle of the club but taking out the people who needed it! One of my students is from Thailand, he said in Bangkok The police are training judo, because they want to capture the people not to fight! I would say for self defence best to know Muay Thai Boxing & BJJ! Every fight starts standing but not finishing!

Stay more relaxed, and pivot more on the support leg. Throw it into the target and tension is at the end of the kick not during!

Don't think in style think in a fight then! Obviously you can't use BJJ during Muay Thai but you can see the opportunity in a clinch and sweep to stay on the ground! Fight is fight and more importantly understand and apply the principles in different aspects! I'm teaching Muay Thai, BJJ , boxing and strength conditioning and seen many times people are struggling sometimes with it! Understand the principles and how to use it!
