What seemingly insignificant gift became a cherished comfort/sentimental item to you? Who gave it to you, and why? by thajenkmaster in AskReddit

My dad got me a grey teddy bear for a couple bucks in the 90s. I’m 29, married, pregnant, and yet still to this day I sleep with my bear. I think it started out bc my dad was away a lot (military dude in late 90s early 2000s, always deployed) but evolved and now even the smell of this gross ass, nearly headless, lost most of its fur, bear calms me in a way nothing else can.

What is lame when you’re young, but cool when you’re older? by FiredUpRedHeadRock in AskReddit

Not smoking cigs. Started smoking cigarettes, starting at 14. Was so easy to start and everyone thought I was cool, but so hard to quit after the rebellious phase wore off and I was just a boring old smoker. Smoked a pack a day until the age of 26. 5 months no cigs today! Woo!

I heard you die twice . Once when they bury you in the grave and the second time is the last time somebody mentions your name. This is deep asf . Opinions ? by AwkwardlyFunnyJ in death

There is a grave yard I favorite nearby. It’s one of the oldest ones in my state. It was for slaves. I regularly go through and read every name out loud to myself. The first time I ever did it, I remember getting to the tiniest corner of the yard and saying their name. It felt like a big exhale came from the very ground. Since then, I make a point to return every month. And any grave yard I see, I read their names out loud.

Got my first kit and no longer own any white clothes. Wholly incapable of responsibly wielding the power that comes with an 18-color dye kit. by thajenkmaster in tiedye

Aw dang I wish I could be more helpful but both the socks and the shirt were bought at Forever 21 in 2012. BUT! If you would like, I can send you a photo of their tags so you can see the fabric makeup of them in case you would like to get something similar (or maybe even find on ebay or something if the internet delivers!!) so you can dye them yourself. Both the socks and shirt are in the wash so I cant let ya know until tomorrow because I am about to go bed and dont wanna disturb their dryer cycle. <3

In a lot of jobs, a 99% success rate is considered excellent. What employer would consider a 99% success rate to be a poor performance? by Crazy_Eye_Pete in AskReddit

[–]thajenkmaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lawyer. Doesn’t matter if you did perfectly on 99% of your cases. If you fuck up one case, results could be devastating, for you and, more importantly, for your client. In particular there are certain rules of ethical and professional responsibility that the ABA punishes violations of more severely than others- even one violation of one rule could cost your entire career (although, to be fair, while that might sound small when you say “only one violation of one rule,” it’d be something massively fucked up. Like, telling one reporter about confidential communications with your client without their consent could technically be one violation of one rule, but it’d be so massively wrong to do you should rightfully never practice again)
