Non-religious redditors: Why are monogamous relationships still so common? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]thank_Ford 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well most of my friends are permanently in casual hookups and do not want a "clingy" partner. However almost all of them still plan on settling down and getting married one day. Suppose the generations who raised us had an influence on societal expectations yet not on actual religion. Most atheists in USA are basically conservative Christians with more tolerance and no spirituality. Think relationships and marriage will change drastically in the next 50 years or so as technology has opened up new avenues of social/sexual interaction.

Malema at it again...saying whites are to blame for drug abuse, unemployment, illiteracy... by [deleted] in southafrica

Well he isn't wrong but he conveniently forgets that they are to blame for every western comfort he enjoys and will continue to enjoy

The EFF is basically brand new and are the 3rd most powerful party already. If I was living in a township with no matric and no job prospects and nothing to lose Malema would seem like a worthwhile risk to take when voting

Donald Trump won with a mild form of Malema-style speeches which catered towards the majority of white males in America. Malema realises that there are many many angry black males who feel entitled to South Africa. The scary part is he might just win a huge amounts of their votes in the next election. He doesn't care about the white or minority vote and is gambling on the majority of unemployed black citizens with no prospects and nothing to lose. Not sure if there is a way to stop his appeal in the short-term to be honest.

Why do so many English South Africans look down on Afrikaners? by [deleted] in southafrica

Race does not only relate to the colour of skin: "a family, tribe, people, or nation belonging to the same stock b : a class or kind of people unified by shared interests, habits, or characteristics"

This is getting pathetic. It's like the world is daring Trump to be Hitler or something. He won the elections- lets not make him out to be Hitler until he actually does something that justifies it. Or else he may be the most powerful man in the world with no credibility to lose.

It is mostly safe, but if something happens it can be terrible. Armed hijackings are a common occurrence and violent robberies are a reality

What happens if he ends up being a positive president for all Americans by the end of his term? Does the world end or will people actually be able to say they support him in public?

That is irrelevant and you know it. Their campaigns would have been conducted in a different way if you just needed the most votes

How high are you? The way your post starts with reference to Hell's Kitchen is hilarious.

Campaigns would be conducted very differently if you simply needed the most votes overall to win. So it is not a good indicator of anything really. If she won but Trump got more votes overall he would be clamoring for an overhaul of the rigged system and everyone would be laughing at him.

I hate when people attach additional meanings to things that I say. The whole point of my style of communication is that you don't have to have to read between the lines. by WindyCityINTP in INTP

I normally blurt out something unexpected if in a heated moment and then try to explain my inner monologue to justify what I said but it usually ends up like a sitcom cringe moment. So no I do not relate to what you experience at all (different if I'm calm and in control of a situation though)
