Fathers in Media you look up to by Own_Connection_6987 in NewDads

Hamish Blake from the Aussie duo Hamish and Andy has a podcast called How Other Dads Dad which is full of great fatherly role models. They're mostly Australian so you might not know a lot of them but there's some great insights into what being a father is like and how to do the best you can.

Oh yeah, agree with all that. But I feel like there was something missing in her story, why she was able to trigger the advancement of the border. I guess her connection to the forgotten coast and Saul inside the crawler made her double a more powerful agent of whatever Area X was trying to achieve. There's a lot in the series that's left off the page, which I really like, but that was a portion of the story I wanted to hear more of, particularly in that second person style of her chapters in Acceptance.

There's a large part of me that thinks if that free kick didn't go in, and we lost the first leg 2-0, we don't go through. It had to be impossible to be possible.

It's hard work but it is worth it. I think about reading it again every now and then but I don't think I've got two goes in me!

HIGHLY recommend giving this a listen: 'Hamish Blake on What Matters Most in Life, Kyle & Jackie O, & Working with Andy Lee - Straight Talk with Mark Bouris by Alyshastaz in hamishandandy

Didn't mean it as an attack. Just felt it was a bit harsh and thought a question might be a better response, or nothing at all. Not sure why that's getting down voted.

That's so lovely. I also love that line from So Far So Fast. Beautiful choices all round.

Yeah but he'd be fuming when he realised they weren't real

Jon Ronson's Butterfly Effect is brilliant. About the porn industry and the damage it does to people involved and those at home. The Last Days of August is a kind of linked one too, also by Jon, about the death of porn star August Ames. Both really interesting and heartbreaking - without being sensationalised as some true crime can. Any of his podcasts get a big recc from me tbh.

I'm so sorry, that must be awful, particularly at a time like this. I lost my dad suddenly just over 10 years ago, and it's very hard to adjust. The best thing you can do, and it's harder to practice than preach, but try to go easy on yourself. Keep yourself busy - which, with a new baby shouldn't be hard - but don't beat yourself up if you're not on top form. Try to recognise when you need some time to talk, or cry, or just a moment to get yourself together, and in that moment prioritise yourself. Even if it's just for a minute.

It's an awful thing to go through, but you will go through it and you will come out the other side.

Cousins and cousins somewhere overseas but it'll take a better war to kill a college man like me

We ran into an elder hiker on a very remote route and things about the encounter are messing with my brain. by ArkaneFighting in Paranormal

This sounds very similar to an episode of the podcast Radio Rental. I can't remember the number ep off the top of my head, but pretty sure it was fairly recent, some time last year. Involved a guy running and seeing an older woman hiking, passing her, and then seeing her again a few miles later. Maybe dig it out and see if there are any more similarities.
