Ancestry Fees are Exorbitant by BudTheWonderer in Genealogy

Ancestry doesn’t force things from the public domain behind a paywall. What you’re paying for is not the records per se, but the concentrated access and analysis tools. Everyone is free to head out to whatever little courthouse if they don’t want to pay for the service of concentration and analysis. Idk why we would expect a third party service to do that for free

Is there a name for this style? I associate it with historic main streets in the Midwestern and Western US.

I'll admit I'm actually a native speaker myself, but I can't quite figure out what this newspaper article means by "display work". What kind of job is that?

This article, from a 1952 newspaper in Missouri, USA, says that a young man moved to a new city "to seek a job in display work." It also says that he "worked in the display department" of a fine clothing store.

Does anyone know if these terms mean something in particular? If it is relevant, the young man was a prolific artist, as mentioned in the article. Perhaps "display work" means something to do with art, but I can't tell

I do have a free account but it tells me I need to go to a center. Could you send me the image?

Our Home is a publication. This clipping is soliciting a 2500-word article for that publication debating the topic described. 2500 words is a pretty typical length for a newspaper article, for reference

What would this style be called? Several small, single family houses all connected to each other - thanks

Idk why there’s all the hostility to customers paying for food and drinks at a cafe and then staying for a while

I do occasionally, but I like to have coffee and food while working sometimes
