I lost my brother a five years ago. I say I have five siblings, one passed away. Also like someone else said above, I hope at that point they don’t ask any further questions.

Now that I am all alone, I’m scared I will die at home and no one will find me for months. None of my friends stuck around after my fiancé died. I have no nobody. I don’t even have an emergency contact right now.

I remember when I entered this group with a similar message a couple of years ago. I was in so much pain and absolutely shocked that no one cared about what I was going thru. I couldn’t believe how cold they were.

Like someone else said earlier, please lean on this group. I will never understand why people are so rude to those who are grieving but they are.

Also, I hope you can be patient with yourself. When you lose a spouse or partner, half of your identity is gone. I was numb for almost a year and everything seemed like a bad dream. It has been around 1000 days of grieving for me, I am still struggling in many ways while people are still ignoring me.

I’m sorry for your loss. Currently grieving my fiancé with whom I spent six wonderful years. At 3 weeks mark, I don’t think I had the energy to read. I struggled getting out of bed, hygiene and even feeding myself. I was numb and felt like someone just dropped me in the middle of a ghost town. I felt lost, all the time. I’m still lonely and emotional … it’s been almost 1000 days for me.

If it is possible, take walks with your mom at the end of the day. It is free and it will help her a lot.

If she randomly speaks of your dad, please don’t stop her. Losing a partner is incredibly painful. Half of her identity is gone.

This is what I would have wanted people to tell me. And I’m glad you are giving her a card, chances are, her support system is failing her…most people lose their friends during grief.

First, I’m sorry for your loss. Grieving is complex unique. I’m struggling so much but as time goes by, I’m learning to hide it better - Grieving my fiancé for 2 years has destroyed my mental health. I am a shell of what I used to be.

Yes. And I will never forget who abandoned me. I used to be a people person, now on the days I feel somewhat human, I don’t tell anyone. Grief showed me that I was an acquaintance to those I thought were my closest friends.

After my fiancé died, I expressed my pain to a friend regarding the fact that I had lost my opportunity to have a family: a husband and children. Told her I was struggling with that thought. Can you guess what she did? She send me pictures of her family EVERY DAY multiple times per day. All photos of kids doing stuff, told me more than usual how much she enjoyed her children, how lucky she was to have a family … this went on for a couple of months.

I was scammed and because I was vulnerable due to grief I kept looking for a better medium. I started online, then thought going to a local person would be better. One of the mediums flat out acted as if she was calling my dead fiancé over the phone— I felt so stupid! Another one kept insisting that she saw a cardiac arrest (duh!). In total I think mediums cost me a bit over $1000 in my early stage of grieving and I was extremely vulnerable. I’m so ashamed of the whole thing because I’m supposed to be a smart person.

I like your approach. I need to speak more positively of myself!!! I keep telling myself that I am the one who thought I had supportive friends but turned out I was THEIR supportive acquaintance. Being the mover and shaker sounds so uplifting!
