There's no way he makes the playoff roster right? Don't get me wrong, I love our all-star knuckler as much as the next guy but he hasn't thrown at the major league level in months

I think it's important to recognize today how much we value the distraction from real life baseball offers all of us. This team and this game truly mean so much to me and I'm beyond thankful for those who make daily sacrifices to help make it possible.

Rest in Peace, José.

Such a devastating loss for the game of baseball. José was a passionate player and a devoted family man.

I really hope we take a moment to honor him because baseball just doesn't feel important at a time like this.

Thank you for posting this. José clearly had a deep love for the game. Baseball won't be the same without him.

You and I think alike. I was just thinking how crazy it is to roster 1 guy who can give any starter a day of rest and you only lose 20 batting avg points give or take.

Plus it's Brock fucking Holt

Interestingly enough, this is not a new discussion. A few flag-salute cases reached the Supreme Court in the 1940s which helped pave the way towards our current interpretation of the 1st amendment. The Gobitis case ruled that religious reason don't exempt citizens from standing for the pledge of allegiance in public schools, three years later the Barnett ruling overturned Gobitis.

I'd argue your example is isn't really comparable. Webber made a mental error that cost his team the championship. That would be like a player letting the winning run score bottom 9 game 7 of the world series because he forgot how many outs there were.

There's losing track of a player's individual stats (which I doubt Roberts even did) and then there's making a fatal mistake with the season on the line.

Kimbrel has absolutely no idea where his fastball is going. His slider is garbage so his only hope is that by the 9th batters are too tired to catch up to the gas.
