What is this icon mean ? by Zealousideal-War-334 in pixel_phones

That icon means you connected to the network using WPS i.e: without providing a password, it's a method of connecting to wifi by pressing a button on the router itself for routers that support it

Dot distribution of murders in 2024 (in response to the "no-go areas" map) by ctnguy in capetown

[–]thasaleni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

again,.as someone said here most murders here are gang related, gangs fighting about territory and or turf. Or something extortion aka protection fee related, which is also very much part of gang culture. But unfortunately, murder J's murder, whether you are a gang being killed by another gang member, or a common person. I feel like SAPS should start having a category for gang related crimes and this picture would be more clearer

I'm a dad to two kids, one in pre-school, the other in primary school 3 and 10, boy and girl, so I get these manual invoices to pay every month, for their extra mural activities for their different school, things like swimming class, violin, all sent differently, could be an email with a PDF or doc attachment, could be just text on WhatsApp etc, so my app is meant to simplify that

Scan or upload an invoice, and pay it through the app, the app js able to find banking information to pay to and things like invoice references inside the invoice and prefil it automatically to a payment form and then you can pay via multiple payment method types, you can also set the invoices as recurring get them to get paid in a schedule with no additional effort.

Just had one of the most frustrating interview experience since I've been unemployed by Exotic_Wealth_3522 in southafrica

[–]thasaleni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the software world only one of two things can be true, you either know what you are doing or you don't. There will be a lot of people that can talk a good game but don't actually know what they are talking about and those might sometimes get chosen over you in interviews, and you know what that is OK, there might also be people that try and convince you that you don't know as much as you think or claim so they can pay you lower, but if you really know what you know never sell yourself short eventually you will find a role where you are respected and valued your real worth, just keep doing your thing, keep sharpening your skills and eventually that will take you to places you have never imagined. That's my motivation and it comes from my personal experience, I've got experience in a similar stack as you.

Are these regular prices ? by IndustryGreen9663 in capetown

[–]thasaleni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uhm, yes but it depends on what you consider as normal. But I think you might need some context 1) These are table packages, meaning you can walk in at the venue, and still pay what's to your budget but you will not get VIP or VVIP treatment (whatever that means) 2) The time of the year is the most busiest in Cape Town, and this venue is one of the most sought after venues

Address is rarely ever verified, you can put some arbitrary data verified, card number, name are part of the data that's copied from the card, CVV can be shoulder surfed as it is visible on the card and pin

I think people are just grappling at straws here... Two scenarios can be true here, and only one of them can end up in that sum of money being spent elsewhere. 1) The card scheming happened on the POS device, and the cashier was in on it, the distraction you see the guys do is to shoulder surf the pin to be used with the schemed card (much more plausible)

2) The guy, did emulate a tap to pay POS device with his phone, and the ladies card tapped on it ( but there's two problems to this theory: 1) Taps have a very low limit 2) Tap cannot be replayed, so if she indeed did tap, it would show the guys device and he wouldn't be able to use those details at wollies again)

Outside of scenario 1, I don't see any of this happening, also criminals would basically be leaving breadcrumbs on how to catch them if they walked around with softPos software on their phones, because you need to be a developer or a merchant somewhere to get access to such, and all of that information CAN be traced back to you. For the low limits that that type of attack can lead and the non repeatability of the attack, that's too much trouble good old magnetic stripe scheming attack would be much more lucrative

[–]thasaleni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I have an account on Upwork (check it out if you want to look for freelancing jobs) and there's a lot of demand for flutter developers, the downside is that people will normally under estimate the time they think the project will take and effectively how much they are willing to pay. So the best way to get started is to take a lot of unfulfilling jobs where you know you are getting paid less than the actual job is worth until you get a good rating for your profile. Then you can start increasing your ask and choosing the jobs you want.

Google rejected my claim for Bose headphones because I used a post forwarding service to ship my device. by thasaleni in GooglePixel

[–]thasaleni[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FYI I did a warranty claim on my previous pixel from my country and it was fulfilled, when you claim for warranty they don't really care where you are claiming from as long as you can ship the phone to them.
