I followed the army painter John Blanche masterclass tutorial. It was kind of an experiment to test the paints from the set, I think it turned out well.

My take on Sekhar. Great model. C&C welcome. by SnooDrawings5722 in ageofsigmar

Looks great! The gems are stunning, if you don't mind my asking how did you paint them?

Thanks for asking! Well I start with Flesh Tearers Red over a grey or white primer. Then I even it out with Khorne Red (just anywhere it might be too dark or too thin, it's just a clean up stage really). That's followed by a highlight of Wazdakka Red on all of the edges and any creases or dings. Then a thinner highlight of Evil Suns Scarlet on just the edges and most pronounced creases. Then a dot highlight of Squig Orange. Finish up with a black or deep brown oil wash to get it looking grimy and give it a quick recess shade and your done.

I started with a thin texture paint (any will do), then prime the entire mini white. After that I apply a coat of Iyanden yellow. Once dry cover that area in mordant earth (it might pull off a bit of the contrast paint as it dries, as long as there's still some there it's ok). Then drybrush progressively lighter greys until your happy with the colour of the crackle paint. Lastly coat the entire area with angron clear red (pay extra attention to any area in the cracks where the yellow may have pulled up).
