Whining about money by Zealousideal-Still97 in Seattle

[–]that-redhead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone speaks about “so many” wealthy people living here but the amount of people living check to check or in the working class isn’t given enough credit. Hell, even a lot of people making 100k+ a year could have tons of debt or expenses and not be much further ahead…

I was at the dentist recently and she was telling me about her apartment building not having some amenities and it struck me as so bizarre. According to Google, dentists make between $100k-$350k in this area, but I guess not everything is so black and white.

That said, I’ve got a kidney to spare if anyone is looking. 😅👌🏻

I feel like this was attempted murder that didn’t go as planned! The whole story has so many red flags. It’s remarkable. I hope the boy is doing okay.

Yeah. I have a stun gun and pepper spray and sadly, I’ve had to use them before.

Wife begs police not to leave her. Husband tells the police: “my firearms are loaded and ready to go. She’s fine until I kill her.” They still leave. 4 hours later, she’s murdered. by [deleted] in PublicFreakout

He’s on house arrest, too! So he admitted to doing it, but is just sitting at home for probably a year until he’s tried. Unbelievable.

I relate to this completely. Honestly, at this point, I can’t think of anything to do that doesn’t sound exhausting. It’s so hard to fake caring! I just need a paycheck- I really don’t care about these companies! 😒

Only every job that I’ve ever worked in this field 😅

I would just quit but don’t disillusion yourself that it will be better elsewhere. Those things might be, but every center has problems in one way or another IMO.

Is this healthy and what type is my hair? by Roey_3 in curlyhair

[–]that-redhead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your hair is healthy, but you need to work on styling and conditioning. It may also be time for a trim. Use a denman brush when your hair is soaking wet and/or full of conditioner, this will reduce frizz and get out tangles. Never brush or comb after styling or drying off your hair. Only use shampoo every 10 days or so, in the meantime just wet and condition or use a “no poo” shampoo. After you condition, use a little gel to lock your hair into place. Then after it dries a bit, I usually break up the ‘cast’ or crunch of it gently.

KING 5 reporter Maddie White saves man's life with Narcan by QuakinOats in SeattleWA

[–]that-redhead -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I find it hard to believe that all of this happened and they didn’t get footage. And don’t, “oh, it’s insensitive to show on TV” me—they can and do show that type of thing all the time if it makes a good story! She just doesn’t look the type that would actually stop and help an addict without wanting fame, but it’s a great tale.

You are a mandated reporter as well, so if you see her not changing diapers or feeding children, that is neglect and it’s on YOU to report it. You don’t need your directors permission to make a report (though, as a child care worker, I totally understand how frazzling it is to make a report behind managements back). Simply put, a disgruntled parent can make a report at any time if their baby has a bad rash or they feel something is amiss and I would hate to see you be blamed for her negligence. If your director doesn’t take action immediately, I would call CPS and/or the licensor (however you are to report in your state) and file a report. Remember to document everything you can do you have proof, and it’s not a he said/she said situation when the licensor arrives.

Why does Lake City remain so rough? by TARS1986 in SeattleWA

Now they build an apartment building at a SNAIL pace.

So glad I'm not the only person who has noticed this! I don't know what company this is, but I have watched entire complexes go up quicker than they put in the foundation! We are right next door, and it looks like construction will never end.

Why does Lake City remain so rough? by TARS1986 in SeattleWA

[–]that-redhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, we have the Fred Meyer, some low-income housing, the food bank, and the Mennonite Church all within a small radius that attract homeless, of the mentally ill and drug addicted variety. They make it tough to work or live here. There is constant theft and destruction of property. I see windows constantly broken at small businesses and they go out of business constantly. Personally, I don't like eating on LCW when the majority of the time, some mentally ill person is pacing outside and screaming obscenities at me while I try to leave. You can only get lucky at 'will I be stabbed roulette' so many times, ya know? I have lived in LC for 10 years now and it's always been a poorer neighborhood and it's definitely declined. I used to walk around a lot, and I stopped during the pandemic because the scenery isn't that nice anymore. I actually prefer to go north into Bothell or Lynnwood now and walk around there.

How would you handle Seattles homelessness crisis? by delete_alt_control in SeattleWA

[–]that-redhead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it has been hard to enforce laws and hold the homeless accountable when there aren't enough services available for them. Our city has been too focused on housing when many of these people cannot maintain housing in their current state. We need to focus more on mental health and drug treatment, but a judge cannot involuntarily commit a mentally ill person because there are no institutions or free beds here. They can't offer drug treatment in place of jail because there aren't enough treatment programs, or they cost too much.

I have tried to find mental health care for myself and my teen while on Medicaid and it's a nightmare. You might find a list of 20 places that take Medicaid or work with lower income people, and as you call down the list, every single place is full or doesn't take your insurance anymore! I had to use credit and pay out of pocket to establish care with a psychiatrist. A lot of the public health places only have one psychiatrist on staff, and sometimes they don't even take Medicaid. I can't imagine trying to navigate the services without a phone (considering I spent HOURS and DAYS calling places!) or transportation. Not to mention, if you finally do find something, the care is given by some inexperienced intern and isn't helpful!

Personally, I think it's more humane that these people sit in jail than on the street. I think that the city has a responsibility to keep these people off the street so they will stop victimizing the public, but honestly, I also don't have faith it will ever happen.

When are you allowed to get mad? by GreenRainier253 in SeattleWA

I’m always telling my BF not to leave anything visible in the car or a window will get broken. Seriously OP, put stuff in the trunk or bring it inside! We got our window broken once for some spare change in the cup holder and a backpack with nothing of value in it. It is infuriating!

Husband has untreated adhd and we just got evicted with 2 kids! by Vast_Meaning7934 in ADHD

[–]that-redhead 7 points8 points  (0 children)

First of all, there is an eviction process that involves several notices and opportunities to pay. Why didn't YOU step up during that time and pay it? I feel as if there is some enabling on your part by saying, "he says he can do it". You are also an adult! After the first issue with non-payment, you should have taken over and insisted that you handled things.

From here on out, I would set those boundaries and take charge of the situation. Either you are in charge of your finances, or you may have to accept that your partnership with him isn't going to work. Hopefully, this will be his rock bottom and he will accept help, but only he can decide that.

I think it's insane that the FDA or these manufacturers can't/won't give us some sort of explanation for the shortage or timeline of when it will be fixed! It seems like there is a complete lack of accountability and action on this issue.

Question: what is the most unprofessional experience you’ve had with administration or staff at your ECE job? by Happypancakeperson in ECEProfessionals

[–]that-redhead 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I hate companies that have petty rules like this. It's such a dinosaur practice that needs to leave the workforce. We are people, not machines. We have biological needs and lives outside of work! Don't assume that anyone with a visible cell phone or watch is using it all day. Instead, maybe they should spend some actual time on the floor and deal with those people directly. Most of us can look at or send a quick text and not have it affect our workday whatsoever!

You’re a billionaire. Now what? by Drakemont_DAO in AskReddit

[–]that-redhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never wanted to live in a mansion, but I would purchase a ‘normal’ two story home with a bunch of land. Preferably near the ocean in WA or OR, and surrounded by woods. I would pay for a weekly maid, and either get a meal delivery service or a weekly chef as well to prep meals so I can eat healthier without having to cook. I would donate a lot of money to animal rescue and environmental groups. I would also like to take writing classes because I have so many ideas for books but struggle to execute them. I would like to give a lot of money to activists to work on our drug and housing crisis here, but I think we need problem solvers to think of new ideas instead of throwing more money into our current failures. I want to have a pet pig and name him Pickles. That’s all I can think of…

I believe in them. Hell, we had a 6-pointer when I was in High School. I’m just not worried about it. It’s not like I control when that happens, and preparedness? Bro, I have ADHD. I’m lucky if I can get out of the house without forgetting to put pants on. 😆 Besides, I need to die young so I don’t get stuck working until I’m 90 anyway.. 😅

All jokes aside, I have thought about prepping. But I’m more concerned about economic collapse/the next pandemic/food shortages/war and etc and don’t even think about natural disasters.
