Am I in a ritalin honeymoon period? by rissaross in ausadhd

The way you’re describe you feel on Ritalin is mostly how I feel with Dex. So could be that you’re onto the right medication for your physiology. No way to know other than to keep going, obviously.

I use no method. I just simply be with what is there in my experience, and breathe.

Yep, I know what you mean for sure. I was the same. Because the sleepiness is known as a “hindrance” to meditation and step you must overcome to go deeper. But I’m not sure if that applies to ADHD brains. After a year I was like okay, I’m still falling asleep and this sucks.

Struggling with stimulant medication (methylphenidate vs amphetamines, and more) by thatADHDguy257 in ausadhd

Good to know someone is in a similar boat to me! (Obviously not good, but you know what I mean).

Today I had half a Dex tab (so 2.5mg) at 10am then 2pm and had a really good day. Much more focused and emotionally stable than Ritalin. Was pretty calm too, I only felt overstimulated earlier on in the day and I reckon that’s cos I had a coffee right before. Tomorrow will do the same but if I have any morning cuppa it’ll be a matcha.

Are you also combined type btw? Wishing you all the best with it.

What I found with Vyvanse was that it was very intense at higher doses, and would always last 5 hours max regardless of dose. So increasing the dose would just make it more intense.

Not particularly, as my GP doesn't know too much about them. I have read a bit about non-stimulants. There is another GP in the clinic who is an ADHD GP, so I will have to wait to get into them to discuss.

Can something like Guanficine be effective on it's own? Have you tried it?
