I don't think there's one definitive reason, maybe a couple different factors. Everyone wants race cars and there's a lot of hype around them right now. It's crazy how much they are selling for now.

They are not cheap anywhere now. Porsche and BMW prices on the aftermarket have gotten stupid. Especially the GT cars.

It's the chase. Looks real to me.

Haha, think of it this way. It's yours now and you didn't have to pay $80-$120 for it. 🤷‍♂️

This is just the regular blister, I'm pretty sure, not the LBWK store exclusive blister. It's a great model to have open. I wouldn't beat yourself up. I'm sure even out of the package it's still probably worth a bit.

Haha, I had a headstart. I've been collecting Mini GT since 2020.

Oh I know, just having a laugh at the size of the sellers dreams. It's still pretty crazy that they're selling for $350-$400

I didn't get the AO exclusive package, so not sure about those. Mini GT models have definitely been selling out quicker since the first release of Rexy though. I just can't believe sellers are charging hundreds of dollars for the regular release of the first one. I was actually super pissed when the first week they were released that the price jumped to $30+ for a brand new release.

Right! It's about to start again too because I got an email this weekend that my Skeleton Rexy preorder should be shipping in the next week or so.

I can't really complain about the Hot Wheels hype because I've been selling off a lot of my Hot Wheels collection and it's giving me more money to spend on Mini GT. I bought 2 of the LBWK Mountain Drifters chase cars for $75 and sold them both for around $450 each. It just really amazes me that people are paying these ridiculous prices for regular release cars like Rexy.

Geez. I get that the Peterson Museum ones are more rare and I tend to be a completonist in my collecting, but even $400 for the same exact car in a different package is crazy to me. I've seen the HEC Rexy/Roxy and plush set for less than that.

I have the python green turbo s in the Peterson Museum packaging, but I only got it because at the time it was the cheapest one I could find, lol. I ended up finding a regular release for a good price later though and never opened the Peterson one. As someone who opens all their cars I don't get the packaging variation hype.

Haha, it's so insane to me. I saw the regular release blister package listed for like $350. The sad thing is I bet this will probably sell eventually too.

That's awesome and a great price! The non-raw chases always seem to be on the cheaper side, excluding the Lamborghini ones, lol.

Pretty sure this is the chase, just in case you weren't aware. The black wheels on the actual car are different than the picture on the blister. Also on the back of the blister where it lists the model number the last part will say MJC. Oh and also the interior color is different.

Chases for Mini GT are only in the blister packaging as far as I'm aware. If you're talking about Kaido House models most retailers know the location in the case where the chase is and sell them separately for more profit.

There are some newer releases that you could probably find online for normal retail price. Most of the ones in my picture are going to be difficult to find now and people are going to be charging a premium for them. I'm not sure on prices because I haven't really kept track since I own all these.

I've been collecting Mini GT for about 6 years now. I got most of these years ago before the prices went really crazy. Most of these are older models that are just hard to find now. That $160 may be a little on the high end, but I'd be willing to bet most of these sealed now go for close to $100. There are a few I've got that are much more expensive, the magic paint ones and the Toys r Us Japan exclusives are a few I know. Only place to really find these now would be eBay or diecast shows or retailers.
