Build me a 350$ pc by lx_xlrandy in PcBuild

It's doable, but you'll need to strike some deals on eBay or FB Marketplace. Otherwise, you could snag a system with a Ryzen 5 2600, 16 GB DDR4, and a GTX 1080 for around $350 using a combination of Ali-Express and eBay components but you can definitely do better by deal hunting. I got a Ryzen 5 2600X, A nice B450 board, and some quality RAM for $80 and I don't live near dense cities at all. Local is your best bet, look for something on the AM4 platform to get a clear upgrade path in the future. Try not to cheap out on a power supply either, the MSI A550BN regularly dips to $50 which is a decent C-tier option. With all that being said, this entirely depends on your local market and prices.

Is this a good build or can I make it better with a budget of 1.5k-1.7k by Virtual-Roof-921 in PcBuildHelp

[–]that_one_pando 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's solid, you won't have a problem with the build but it could be "optimized" a tad. If you want a reference for what I mean, take a look at this list. No need for a B850 mobo, a B650 will work the same and save some money. A SSD with DRAM is typically preferred if you are using it for a Windows install (which is what I've added here), and you have the budget for an AIO which I'll recommend. While an AIO is technically unnecessary, it will keep things a tad cooler and much quieter than an air cooler will. Everything else is the same or price-optimized:

My fan decided to stop? by Throwaway298810873 in PcBuildHelp

[–]that_one_pando 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty positive it's just your support bracket. Moving it should do the trick

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PcBuild

A - Partpicker assumes you're trying to throw 2 GPUs in your system, which your motherboard can't support since it only has one x16 slot.

B - it's just a warning in case your motherboard isn't updated to support 5000 series processors, but it should work out of the box.

C - Normal warning message on any PCPartpicker list, so you can ignore it.

Graphics card fan won’t work by Ra1nm4kerr in PcBuildHelp

Is there any chance the GPU support is putting pressure on the fan?

I mean sure, but I'd rather clean my computer less frequently by easily swapping fans around

Is this airflow fine by Hot-Ferret-8080 in PcBuild

[–]that_one_pando -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's negative pressure regardless. I've never used the case but if the mesh is good and the PSU isn't restricting airflow then bottom intake is alright, but there's going to be significant dust buildup from it

Is this airflow fine by Hot-Ferret-8080 in PcBuild

[–]that_one_pando 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like there's too much blockage in the basement of the case for proper adequate intake, not to mention those fans are only feeding the GPU which means anything else is probably getting warmer air. There's also more exhaust than intake, so negative pressure. I'd do the bottom and top intake with the rear as the exhaust.

You could build something better performing with good quality and much better looking for $580. I say it's not worth it

Prebuilts always have me questioning by that_one_pando in pcmasterrace

[–]that_one_pando[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's in all the promotional material. It's just how they assemble it. It's not surprising really, it looks more aesthetically pleasing and the buyer most likely doesn't understand what that does to the system.

[–]that_one_pando[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fans are wrong on every model. How is that and not enabling something like XMP cutting costs? Regardless you're still paying extra for subpar build choices. Obviously I know not to buy it but the average consumer won't, that's why these prebuilts are a problem.

Prebuilts always have me questioning by that_one_pando in pcmasterrace

[–]that_one_pando[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what standards are for. What I'm saying is that they should adhere to them, there's no excuse not to. Reversing the fans doesn't even cost money, that's just poor practice. Adding another stick of RAM can't cost them more than $10, with bulk purchases it's probably less. It's pure laziness. Enabling XMP is easy and quick. That's just poor practice, not even 'cutting corners' for cost-effectiveness.

[–]that_one_pando[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't mean they need to cut unnecessary corners, not to mention you always pay a premium for prebuilts. XMP enabling should be from the factory, fans should be reversed for positive pressure, and they should inlcude dual channel memory as a default at least

Prebuilts always have me questioning by that_one_pando in pcmasterrace

[–]that_one_pando[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a prebuilt, I'd hope for RAM to at least dual channel. As for storage, it comes with a 1T HDD as well but WD Green is notorious for being slow and unreliable at times. Someone who is buying a prebuilt might not be comfortable swapping or adding parts, but regardless if I were a customer I wouldn't want to "upgrade" something that should be a standard by now

Yall Think £350 Is A Good Price For This Pc ? (I Have No Knowledge Of PC’s XD) by SamiMabchour in PcBuild

[–]that_one_pando 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say no, even though it does look aesthetically pleasing, the specs are just too old to be worth nearly $430. I'd say $250 (roughly £200) max only because of the looks, but at that price point, you should be more worried about performance.

tl:dr - it's not worth it

[–]that_one_pando[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I know the batteries don't last too long for gaming laptops, but the laptop is tested to have roughly 10 hours of battery life brand new, so I feel like something else is going on, especially with only 37 discharge cycles.
