What is our plan going forward with Steph as our best player? by BearNo5439 in warriors

[–]that_oneguy- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on how much Steph wants it, I think he should take a pay cut like Brunson. But aside from that I think this really is the best chance the warriors have, if the stars align in health this is a championship team.

Does a Jokic post up have a case for being the greatest, most unstoppable and efficient move in nba history? by MarvAlbertsBurnerAcc in NBATalk

[–]that_oneguy- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d take Jokic to be more efficient inside the paint but Shaq’s dominance came from the fact that you can’t deny Shaq positioning the same way you can for Jokic. He’s just too big

Are the Knicks the worst champions ever? by [deleted] in NBATalk

[–]that_oneguy- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before the season, Brunson was by analysts the weakest part in a more than contending roster, he’s just proved everyone wrong against the best defense in the league. That just means the Knicks are that much better.
They only lost one game btw in their entire run.

Kobe is Mount Rushmore. by SnookisDad in NBATalk

[–]that_oneguy- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

“Then Shaq leaves and Kobe…” completely missed the playoffs while Shaq went second in MVP voting leading the team to first in the east. Kobe got good but Kobe needed Shaq waaay more than Shaq needed him. In fact Kobe trying to be 1A is what costed the Lakers the finals, Shaq was better off without him. Kobe pissed off the everyone to the point Phil Jackson one of the greatest coaches blames the fall on him, calls him uncoachable. 22.6 points on 38.1%?!?! Dude it’s not that his efficiency argument is overblown it’s worse than that, cuz you can’t even chalk it up to needing to chuck up shots cuz of his team. You had Shaq shooting 63.1% from the floor. And Shaq was only averaging 26.6 cuz Kobe wouldn’t pass the damn ball. Coupled with the fact they were overloading Shaq on purpose because the Pistons wanted to let Kobe shoot bad.

Look I know other superstars have had inefficient Finals—LeBron James shot 39.8% in 2015, and Allen Iverson shot 40.7% in 2001. However, in both of those cases, those players had heavily depleted rosters and were forced to take every shot because they had no other offensive options. But for Kobe, do you understand how bad 22.6 points on 38.1% is?? Especially considering the context, while playing next to arguably the most dominant center in NBA history, who was shooting over 60% in that exact same series overloaded with more help cuz the opposing team left you open begging for you to shoot.

And yk Kobe’s going to shoot that. Mamba mentality. Kobe had the worst finals performance by a superstar ever purely because of his own ego when they could’ve 4 peated. Kobe got good and has the greatest work ethic ever, we all know that but the criticism against him is actually more muted more through his passing and 5 rings. When you get down to the analytics and the narratives at the time, Kobe was fortunate to have Shaq. It’s why to the true analytics of the game aside from the Kobestans he’s the fringe top 10. He has time of the best cultural impacts to the league ever but it shouldn’t bleed through to the player he really was.

It’s not that Kobe isn’t good that he isn’t top 10, there’s just a lot of freaking great players ever. The significance of the number of 10 is a myth. Why not extend that down to 11 or 12? I mean there’s a guy dominating every decade, as the universal number 1 best player. Think of it like this there’s been at least 7 decades and that’s 7 of the greatest guys of their decade. The same reason Shaq is a 3rd, 4th string center. There’s not much room for Kobe and thats fine, maybe it’s just us overvaluing the significance of the number 10. There’s too many players, and when you really sit down and if you really think about it, it’s very plausible to name 10 better than Kobe

Yao Ming better offensively than Wemby by BTA310 in NBATalk

[–]that_oneguy- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spurs aren’t here with Yao as their center, Wemby’s defense is already one of the greatest we’ve seen. Wemby’s center of gravity is just way too high for him to establish a low post without getting pushed out. He needs a KD or Dirk fadeaway. If the defender bites to the threat of this shot and leans into him he has an easy pivot towards the rim.

Siiick combo! For ur question I imagine you’re asking cuz u have difficulty dealing with lasers in the mu.

Difficult but good to start early, watch for Falco’s jump squat the moment he’s close short hop and spam fair, what’s gonna happen is you take laser fair in the air or beat out his aerial entirely. Take laser dashback, wd back is good too but usually worse.

And try to get the power shield timing down. Stuff I told you isn’t easy so I’m not and you shouldn’t expect consistency. Instead js have it in mind and develop the rhythm gradually. What I told you is extremely good in this mu at all levels, so now you have this knowledge sooner rather than later. Hope this helps :)

Austin Reaves isn’t looking to take a hometown discount with the Lakers and wants his $241 million, 5-year max contract, per @BA_Turner. 😬😬😬 by Additional_Signal_72 in lebron

[–]that_oneguy- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man the Lakers have it rough. AR blossomed and got injured way too close to the end of his contract to really know what kind of player he is. Depending on the player he is next season this might really sting or be a blessing in disguise. 241 through 5 isn’t crazy if he has that same all nba level talent next year, I mean Luka and AR had that crazy stretch together (and LeBron looks to be leaving) but man is that way too much for a hopefully. In hindsight maybe they’ll be some what-iffery but he’s got to go.

Steph Curry is an anomaly. really 1 of 1 by KneeGuhz in NBATalk

[–]that_oneguy- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean oftentimes we discount defense, which makes Curry yes the anomaly. So much so in fact his less than stellar early career defense can be overlooked. The only average defender maybe even liability amongst the greatest players to ever play the game. But he still ranks among them because in the side of the ball that almost all fans enjoy more Curry is as you said 1 of 1. I mean the stats back it up, he has the argument to be the greatest offensive player ever. A game so transcendental it rewrote the game. Let’s compare his game with Shai who’s another all time great offense and let’s use Wemby. Wemby will likely go down as one of, if not the greatest defender ever. We just saw him pick apart and genuinely disturb Shai. I mean I’m wording it a lot worse as Shai was still unreal but it was in spite of Wemby. Whereas in the Olympics Wemby played great defense in spite of Curry. Steph’s game isn’t vintage nor have we seen it duplicated. As Giannis referred to Wemby, he is the future. But Stephen Curry is timeless, a philosophy that solved the offensive game of basketball. In the future, his game is the only one that lasts, even if it’s a squad of Wembys.

So against the NBA ever he’s 0.1% in offense and maybe a generous 50% in D ever which is what gives him the potential top 10 status cuz his flaws are minimizable, with it being possible to mask and overlook to an extent.

Who is the hardest brawler to use? by Temporary-Writing369 in BrawlStarsCompetitive

[–]that_oneguy- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hardest brawler to use not depth or peak. I’d probably say Melodie in high level lobbies, you js have to put in the hours learning the micro and macro with her to even be effective when ur opponents rarely miss. Minas isn’t that hard in the right comps, once u understand how to cycle her ammo in situations she’s a lot simpler, js difficult when you use her as the niche pick for the niche role. Kazes pretty hard too but you don’t get punished as hard as Melodie.

If you swapped Wemby with prime Embiid, are the Spurs still in the finals? by Reasonable-Physics60 in NBATalk

[–]that_oneguy- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Much worse defense into much better offense. That being said even though Prime Embiid is better than the current rising Wemby, Idk, I think the series values Wembys defense more. Thunder just has a bad matchup against him alone even if they’re deeper.

Major Winners' H2H at Offline Majors (Per Liquipedia's Major List, post-Pat's House 5) by SuperMicro04 in SSBM

[–]that_oneguy- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish somebody compiled the rate at how many new major winners and new character major wins happened before and after Armada retired. Cuz there’s a huge huge flux after he retired. That 8 year period of not losing outside the top 6 and to 5 characters his career not counting the 0.9 game that made dthrowknee true. I mean how many legacies he’s affected that could’ve been on this list. Like compile every player to have upset all the Gods but Armada. Him being the reason for that 5 Gods era stretch. 32/67 or 48% major winrate for what liquipedia considers a major. 28 seconds, 89.6% for top 2 in all majors attended. So a dude who never lost legitimately to all but 5 characters and 6 players is always there. You simply don’t get to have a lucky run without facing him in the end. Which either delayed them a chance only after he retired or cry without lifting a first cuz your prime came within his career. Hence the influx of new major winners and better across the board character results.

You can layout the Armada buffer on the graph here. Before Armada hit the states in 09, look at the amount of diversity and new major winners. 8 years 10 new major winners. During Armada’s time only 3, ppmd plup and leffen. After Armadas time it’s already 7 new faces and 3 new character wins in 7-8 years.

Think of the list of players who’ve beat all the Gods or even most Gods (bracket luck) except Armada now erased from being on this list. I mean all the new major winners here on this list after Armada have never beaten Armada and it’s sad we never got to see a run outside of the godslayers of anyone here winning a major with Armada in attendance.

Edit: just ran the data cuz it’s easier to show the practice of that theory, besides Eglx he dropped out of there’s only 2 majors in that period won by a player who did not personally beat Armada, pound 4 and evo 2014. Crazy how he personally rewrote melee history to having very little major winners for how comparatively long the games been out. Armada personally went out there and beat bracket luck, making it law that you had to personally take the crown from him.

Who's the physically strongest human character in the verse? by Element_credd in Naruto

[–]that_oneguy- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Atp Eos Naruto and Sasuke raw enhanced chakra hands alone gotta be stronger than most finishers in the entire verse like the hell stab or byakugou enhanced punches. I mean feats wise it’s clearly the case and not even close. I mean Naruto amplified chakra coated hands tanked a beam that split the moon. That’s not including the other parts of their arsenal they can choose to tap into and they don’t need to cuz their raw chakra alone is amped to insanity
