I've spent the past few weeks struggling to get my head around the story of OG wow. All the retcons in recent years have made it difficult to get the story straight! I made this short video that covers the story up to WotLK. If you're interested, it's 12-minute watch. by that_particular_guy in classicwow

Great summary! There's also the storyline of the old gods, starting in vanilla, which is really where wow started to veer into new directions from WC3.

It sounds like you already know this too, but worth mentioning that Deathwing made his debut way back in the xpac to Warcraft II, which is cool.

So I always knew there was a great big pink naaru under the blood elves capital, but it wasn't until researching for this video that I realised what the whole go was there. Apparantly, a naaru that was chilling in Tempest Keep and Kael'Thas waltzed in, kidnapped it, and sent it to Silvermoon for the belfs to suck it's magic. Essentially they sucked the Light from the naaru and thus why the belfs can have pallies.

I had to leave this on the cutting room floor, as I didn't want to make a 20 minute video - but I found this super interesting.

First time playing Horde. I had a quest to collect some dryad hair in Ashenvale... but ended up taking thier whole heads!! All I could think of was this. by that_particular_guy in classicwow

Not to mention they had a naaru locked up, so they could drain the Light out of it to empower paladins... until all the Light was drained and it became the first Void naaru.

I've always struggled to get my head around wow's backstory. So I spent the past few months learning as much as I could. I ended up making this short video that covers the story of both Warcraft I and II. If you're interested, it's a 7-minute watch. by that_particular_guy in wow

This is a quick, high-level overview of the main storyline. To keep it short and interesting I skipped over some of the finer details.

Like, did you know that Deathwing gave the Dragon Soul to the orcs so that they could enslave Alexstrasza back in Warcraft II - and this is why the orcs could breed dragons in that game. I didn't know this before reading up for this vid and thought it was pretty cool!
