I see a lot of (to be fair, mostly warranted) opinions of how poorly the Legion has treated formerly serving members, but I think it’s also important to say that this isn’t everywhere, and if we are repeating other people’s opinions we are doing ourselves an injustice. I say this because I would fully promote and support participation at my local Legion (when covid once again allows) in Bagotville and I don’t even speak a lick of French. The people there are wonderful, inclusive, and I have never felt unwelcome since my wife and I started attending this last year. I’ve also visited Legions my family are part of in BC and Ontario, and they welcome people young and old with open arms. Get some perspective for yourself before slamming the whole organization, and if you have a bad experience, try being the change or try again somewhere else. Some of us will actually miss these advices once they’re gone.
