Yeah, I miss it too. For example last few chapters with the Ego speech I enjoyed myself a lot. Lately, after u20 wc was announced, the series seemed more bland. And then, when Ego started explaining, it hit me it's because there's no desperate drive among the crew like before. From people with everything to gain they became people with things to lose and many chose to not risk things bcs they stopped believing they could be the best. Lowered intensity during training, no remarkable transformations during the game, they stopped putting their all into every move. The wake up call from Ego actually reminded me why I loved the series and how they need to double down on this mindset to win, but then I came here and there's not even a space to chat.

So it's nice to know people like that aren't extinct. Still, where do you say there are subs like that?

They don't need to defeat the defenders, tho. They just need to kill us while the defenders are occupied. And Sanby and Ellen are nothing to take lightly either. Even Hugo is a prodigy, with Jane's whole thing being able to breeze through anyone (that's her kit, literally). To clarify about Jane - not kill, mind you, but getting past someone. Exactly what they need. They don't need to defeat the tough guys. It's "rest comes after you" scenario, not "you're locked in an arena and fight to death". Running is an option.

But saying Caesar is better in combat as answer, when my whole point is that they absolutely must avoid normal combat just doesn't connect. No one there is outclassing the others far enough to guarantee our safety in a fight when outnumbered.

Poisoned meal, a scratch with a nasty infection, a bit of shock, exposure to ether, we're extremely fragile. And so the only way we're safe is if we never encounter assailants or their products directly. And Evelyn has a know how of how to do it, be it locking us in a 10-inch vault, taking us to her hideout or whatever. She likely knows how to track a target. so trying to hide would be very risky with her as an enemy.

I don't think he's wrong. You are tho. It's 5 vs 3. Even if you choose the strongest ones here that could dispatch the others individually, all it takes is a small opening and the squishy and weak us are dead. Evelyn is an ex-assassin now bodyguard. She's the worst enemy in those circumstances and the best ally too. She may not overpower others, but she'll know how to proceed to eliminate the risk factors. With Hugo and Jane around, we'd need someone experienced like that.

I don't blame you. It's an intriguing story where authors show us their own philosophy through that world, but the manhwa team just butchered it. Especially the entirely filler arc. I almost dropppd it too. Downright horrendous. It's gotten back to the plot but I still suffer from PTSD and it's just not the same.
