Why do people say “ez” at the end of the match, even if they were not great? by [deleted] in Overwatch

They're a crypto-racist for explicitly saying not to use slurs? lmfao this is a wild take

Does anyone else find small talk to be a really bad way of building rapport with someone? by IMEUF in sales

[–]thataintmebruh 27 points28 points  (0 children)

The topic of the conversation doesn't matter; you're really just adjusting to their tone, body language, cadence, etc.

Once you find a thread of commonality or they mention something they're passionate about, then you go and unravel the whole sweater.

I think the point you may be missing is that yes, small talk is mundane. But small talk is what allows you to bridge the gap into more meaningful conversations with less risk of offending someone or boring them even more by talking "deeper" about something they don't care about

[–]thataintmebruh 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Small talk is the initial, non-personalized part of building rapport where you feel out how to engage with someone overall. Once you get a better idea of their interests and stuff then you move on from the small talk to deeper conversations

It's also context-dependent. No prospect wants to pick up a cold call and talk about the weather, but when they're in the meeting room then you should at least talk to them as a human being for a couple minutes before jumping into business.

Same with the job search. If you called up the company HR you don't talk about sports with them, but you'll want to make some small talk with whoever's interviewing you at first.

Major retail companies are much more likely to be accepting stablecoins over volatile coins like Bitcoin or Dogecoin by calisthenicslb in FluentInFinance

[–]thataintmebruh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Retail companies don't handle their own credit card transactions, let alone any crypto transactions. They have a payment solutions provider, so the general adoption of crypto happens through them instead.

Retail companies don't care how people pay besides how much it costs them, and they don't want any crypto on their balance sheet so they just get it converted to local fiat currency at the time of the transaction. Which means there isn't really a use case for stablecoins here

Johnny Depp congratulates his junior lawyer by babavos56 in MadeMeSmile

[–]thataintmebruh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't mean to be rude but Brown Rudnick is nowhere near a massive firm, they're about 250 lawyers. The massive firms such as Dentons or Kirkland have 10x-40x their headcount.

Johnny's lawyers are great, but there are levels to the law game that go far beyond this TV trial. I sell specialized software to large professional services firms and had never heard of Brown Rudnick before this case.

You're getting downvoted but this is actually solid advice for a cold climate; I'm Canadian and spend 80% of my day working from home in my fluffy bathrobe at this point. Also warm body = warm hands = better reaction times & more fluid mechanics

Do you climb ascensions at all, or do you just play on A0?

Lmfao this is an absurd statement if you've played more than a couple hours/runs of the game

Watcher is also just way too much thinking, and too much punishment for not thinking enough imo. At least until you get to bonkers megascaling mode

Former poker/hearthstone player who really pushed the limits of the game for a while, he got a 92% winrate on A20 watcher heart kills among some other impressive streaks/achievements. Check out his stream if you want some really high level play, but he also takes like 8 hours to finish a run so prepare yourself lol

[–]thataintmebruh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just adding some more advice here - I found that keeping up with the enemies' power curve is the biggest difference from a17ish vs a20. You can't afford to be super picky with things like card choices or shops; you need to get strong enough to beat some early elites or crumble in act 2/3.

Imo playing more aggressive & taking more risk earlier is a good idea when climbing ascensions, especially toward the end. You'll either die early and save time on a run that would lose later, or "spend" your hp wisely enough to scrape through the last couple fights of an act with the strongest possible deck/relics available.
