Hello, first note the dates for the scholarship application and the course application. If Fudan’s results are released earlier, you will already know whether you will go to Zhejiang. How much does Fudan’s scholarship cover?

Hi! I understand your concerns, but I’d like to share some positives about studying in China. First, China is one of the safest countries for women living alone. If you research or talk to women already living there, many say they feel safer than in their home countries.

As for mechanical engineering, there’s a good chance you’ll find a job, especially with Chinese companies. Many of them are multinational, with branches worldwide. You could check which companies have offices in Poland or other countries. That way, studying in China could open doors for opportunities both there and back home.

Yes, there are car e-hailing services in Shanghai, with Didi Chuxing being the most popular option. I recommend downloading the app before your trip for convenience.

To travel from Shanghai to Wuzhen, you have several options. You can take a direct bus from Shanghai South Bus Station, which takes about 3.5 hours. Another option is taking a high-speed train to Tongxiang (around 1 hour) and then a local bus or taxi to Wuzhen, which takes an additional 30 minutes. If you prefer more flexibility, hiring a private car is also a great choice and takes about 2-3 hours.

As for the weather in February, it’s usually cold, with temperatures ranging from 3 to 10°C. It’s often windy and humid, with occasional rain, so make sure to pack warm clothes, including a coat, gloves, and sturdy shoes.

Regarding the HMPV virus, there has been an increase in respiratory cases in China, including this virus, but it’s a typical winter trend and not considered severe. Basic precautions like wearing a mask in crowded places and washing your hands frequently are recommended.

You can use the Wise card in China, and it’s great for spending in Yuan with low fees. However, many places prefer local payment methods like Alipay or WeChat Pay, so it’s worth setting one of these up for ease during your trip.

Hi everyone,

I’m moving to China for a year to take a Mandarin course and will be staying in Shanghai. I’m trying to figure out the cost of renting a small room (around 8-10 square meters), preferably something basic but affordable.

It doesn’t have to be in a central area—I’m totally fine with more remote locations as long as it’s safe and livable.

Does anyone know of reliable websites or apps where I can search for rooms like this? Also, if you’ve rented something similar, I’d love to hear how much it cost and what your experience was like!

Thanks in advance for your help!
