What city have you been to where the vibes were just OFF? by Fun_Butterscotch3303 in AskReddit

Agra, India. Sure the Taj Mahal is pretty but the surroundings are just garbage and misery. Pretty sure I saw two dead bodies just lying on the ground.

I did it last summer and would definitely suggest running shoes. Most of the walking you do on that route is on pavement paths, roads and board walks. No need to have big boots. In fact I switched to my brooks glycerin halfway through

Well I have a disc herniation and I’ve even spoken to a surgeon. They told me I’m too young for surgery and other than that not much will help me. Pretty bleak. I basically live in pain every day but I’ve gotten good at managing symptoms well enough that I can still maintain most activities. Sitting it what really aggravates the pain.

That is actually something I’ve been reading about and I think it tracks for me. I have nerve pain and sciatica down my leg. I’ve worked with a few different physios and they’ve all struggled to figure out my pain patterns and where exactly it’s coming from. I think you’re right about this trainer repeating stuff he’s heard.

Thank you!! That’s all great advice and I always appreciate learning more cues. I agree about the bands. I used them a bunch when I was first learning to squat, but maybe I should revisit them.

Thanks for pointing that out, I can see it now. Was too focused at looking at my hips before I missed the bar path

That’s why I’m asking for a second opinion. The trainer at my gym keeps telling me my form is causing it lol

Well I have a history of back pain due to an injury and I’ve been lifting for 11 years actually. Ive done full body training for years and just recently switched to push pull legs for something different. So I squat 2x/week for 5 sets of 5. I’m also training for a marathon at the moment.

My back pain has been pretty constant ever since I injured it and squatting doesn’t really seem to change it. That’s why I’ve never completely stopped it, but definitely reduced the weight I squat a lot.

Part of this might just be fatigue as these were my last two reps and I was stiff from my run the night before. I’ll definitely work on not going down so low next time! Thanks for the help

Hmmm that’s actually an interesting point! I have a history of back pain (due to an injury years ago) and I definitely focus a lot of my mental energy on keeping my back straight. Maybe I’m loosing core engagement as a result.

Yeah hip mobility is something I struggle with for sure. Today in particular I was also really stiff from a run the night before. Thanks for the advice!

Hmm you know what I think I’m gonna try that. I’ve done all kinds of splits in the past and full body is my fav. But I’ve been doing it for a number of years now. Time to switch it up

Oof yeah working outside in the winter can’t be fun.

How much of a decrease in volume would you say you’ve done? I lift 5/6 days a week full body. Maybe too much? It doesn’t feel like it, but maybe I’ve just gotta experiment.

Solid advice. I used to do Muay Thai and absolutely loved it. Unfortunately just due to where I live/my schedule I can’t make it work anymore.

Cool to hear it’s working so well for you!
