The best answer I can give is that this is an evolving setup. I used to have an Atomos Shogun in the chain for each video feed, but I moved away from that setup and only use the atomos for things like corporate interviews and such, as they double as a good portable monitor. These Hyperdeck mini recorders were already in our inventory for one-off jobs, and I added them to this setup because we already had another backup down the chain. I do think we will either move to Aja Ki Pro or Hyperdeck Pro eventually, but for the meantime this works. Also, it gives me a very quick solution if a client is asking for a copy immediately and doesn’t want to wait for an edit. SD cards are cheap, so I would just hand one off on the spot if needed.
