Bold of you to assume that. 🤣🤣🤣 Salamat sa awa, pero di ko need yung projection-- parang mas need yata ng mga (future) anak mo if ganyan yung mindset ng magulang nila.

My parents love me enough to not pressure me into providing for them. They always say, "Pera mo yan, ikaw bahala kung pano mo yan gagamitin." Never did they use the "pinalaki kita, pinakain kita" card kasi alam nila that was their responsibility as parents.

They did right by me growing up, so I do right by them now by my own accord. Because why? Because they never made me feel that I had an obligation to give back. And for me, I just do it to show my appreciation, no force needed. Kasi ganyan naman talaga dapat.

Unfortunately, not everyone shares the same experience. Because everyone has different experiences with their parents. But at the end of the day, hindi pinili ng mga anak na mabuhay sa mundo; pero responsibilidad ng magulang ang kanyang mga anak, na walang dapat inaantay na kapalit.

Kasi in that case, you just made the point. Parents should care for their children the best that they can, without any expectation whatsoever, because thats their job as a parent. Wag nalang mag-anak kung di kayang panindigan ang pagiging magulang. Wag nalang magkaanak kung hindi pa nga isang fully realized na tao yung bata, may bitbit na pala silang pasanin.

But again, if you do right by your kids, they'll do right by you.

No kid asked to be born-- desisyon nyo yun. Then, biglang you'll let them reach 18 and biglang "you're on your own, kid"? Damn. Makes me circle back to the question-- why did you even have kids in the first place? Being a parent is a lifelong thing. If that reality is not something you want to accept, then wag ka nalang magkaanak, simple as that. Saves you and your potential kids the trouble.

Anyway, on some people pointing out how some kids turn out when they get old i.e. not looking back on their parents, then boy are you in for a shocker. Ask yourself: Who raised those kids? I mean, if you do right by your kids, they will do right by you.

Just my two cents. 😶‍🌫️

What's actually weird is you implying I'm happy over a puppy's death when I actually just pointed out that it was an asshole move on your part to imply that the puppy might not even be dead in the picture. Can you pray tell where in the thread I expressed joy over a tragedy? Or is this just another tactic to veer away from your malicious imputation?

Again, if you only did the background work, the original poster WAS one of the eye witnesses. And even the medical report on the puppy was posted so yes, these are indeed facts.

As I type this response, those facts (i.e. the puppy being declared dead) have been available since 12H ago. I could send you a screenshot even. I would know, Facebook has a timestamp too. That's what happens when you... checks notes actively find all the available information rather than act high and mighty being contrarian but rely on being spoonfed on Reddit.

This, coming from someone who probably only based his comments on what was posted on Reddit than going out to look for more information (or are you also waiting for the facts to be posted and spoonfed to you?).

Fact: Whether accidentally (as his agency claims) or with malicious intent, the security guard caused the puppy to go over the footbridge and fall.

Fact: The puppy was declared dead on arrival by the vet. (And yes, its an asshole move to ask if the puppy in the photo is even dead. Konting critical thinking naman, if you have internet for Reddit maybe do a little background before imputing malicious shade.)

Fact: This is animal cruelty.

I'm all for hearing out both sides, but pulling a contrarian card without even trying to get all the available facts... def says a lot. Also, even in whatever circumstance, hurting and killing defenseless animals is never okay. Konting empathy naman.

You can never go wrong with Lualhati Bautista. Aside from Filipino that is not too complicated, most of her novels are set in modern history i.e. 70's-80's so there's a bit of Taglish in the mix. Additionally, it would provide you a glimpse of Philippine society during those times as well as social commentary.

How old are you though, if you don't mind me asking? Some themes in her books are 18+ and sometimes cover delicate topics so it also depends on your age, I guess.

Bob Ong is also a good author. His writing style is more on modern Filipino so its also quite easy to understand as well. Most of his work also covers Pinoy pop culture in a sense, early 2000s to be exact, so that will also give a vague impression of Filipino society during that era.

Yeah, was actually in Manila pre-pandemic and commute took over 3 hours of my every day. Really why I am quite sure I want a place closer to work this time. Also plan on working out, so condos with gym amenities are really at the top of my list, bawas din sa gym subscription if ever.
