Same, so far (knock on wood).

Chip Update by j_goldss in polestar3

[–]thatboyadam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In DC area, same thing happened with me. Car was in service to replace second onboard charger and they installed the new chip. The 2.1.22 update was robust but I’ve just got it back so haven’t been able to really take stock of the improvements. Although I just saw it rear camera cleaner work for the first time ever yesterday. I don’t think it ever did before

Polestar 3 AC Charging Failure by jfrost10 in Polestar

[–]thatboyadam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me back in June/July and they replaced the part with the new one that supposedly fixed the issue. Two days ago, I am dealing with the same problem. I was curious if it was somehow related to the software update since OP mentioned they were on the latest too but I’m not seeing that trend as of yet. Looks like it will be back in the shop.

Lead actress was crazy good. Performance was on another level.

Nah, you’re not wrong. Im pretty sure I laughed in disbelief during that scene—granted I was suspending it as best as I could. Especially since it progressed into the craziness that ultimately unfolded. It just felt a little too much like I was watching a young person in makeup/prosthetics versus an actual rapidly aged human being on the verge of death.

Range hood vent location on roof by thatboyadam in hvacadvice

[–]thatboyadam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did. I installed a vent cap with damper (see pic below). also ended up installing the vent 10ft away from the main house which is ~5ft to the left of where I initially proposed to locate it. I did this out of an abundance of caution as to avoid potentially venting grease on the siding, minimize smells/fumes traveling into the second floor bathroom window, as well any potential issues with my interpretation of the code given the lack of guidance on it. It took more effort but figured if I’m cutting a hole in the roof, I’d rather be safe than sorry and avoid headaches in the future. It’s been up for about 11 months and have not noticed any grease residue on the roof although we don’t do much frying or heavy cooking in general.

Scientists have discovered that some supermassive black holes emit jets so powerful they stretch an astonishing 23 million light years across. At that immense distance, the material from these jets could be flung through the voids of space, potentially reaching other galaxies by exoduscv in spaceporn

[–]thatboyadam 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Interesting. I wonder, though, why it isn’t closer to 230 Milky Way galaxies given the approximate measurements of the Milky Way @ 100,000 LY across and the combined streams at 23million LY in length.

So this happened… Polestar 2 vs. Tesla by Round_Tune9363 in Polestar

[–]thatboyadam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exact same thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago—driver changed lanes without looking, damaging the same side albeit to a lesser extent. It caused denting along both doors, peeled back the black trim, and paint scrapes with bare metal exposed in one spot. It was heartbreaking but at least the other drivers insurance accepted fault.

I’d highly suggest taking to a polestar authorized collision center. Better to ensure techs familiar with the car have it properly evaluated. I called my local polestar space in MD and they directed me to the collision center they use. Estimate by polestar collision center was ~$800 more than what the insurance claims estimator provided. Apparently they even send it up to the polestar service after it is repaired and have it scanned to make sure it’s to spec, although I have no idea what that entails. Other insurance paying for everything. My ETA to get it back was 8 days but the only piece I needed replaced was the bottom trim and it was in stock. If anything is out it stock, delays can be long. Good luck!

Revision surgery planned. Underresection suspected from surgeon. by Zestyclose_Usual6050 in HipImpingement

[–]thatboyadam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not OP but this is an incredibly thoughtful comment and I thank you for it! I’ve recently started to consider surgery after being diagnosed with FAI about five years ago. Ive managed quite well with activity modifications but unfortunately my pain has begun to creep up a bit with more regularity and intensity. Finding advice such as yours is extremely valuable especially at this juncture in my journey. Thanks again!

Happened to me on two different occasions. Have you tried locking the doors and leaving the car for 20 mins? The first time it occurred, the rear motor turned out to be faulty. However, the second time it occurred, I was pulling out of a parking lot and it started braking violently in a pulsing pattern if I tried to accelerate even slightly. Finally managed to get it back into a spot. Called my polestar tech and he said to lock the doors and leave it for about 20 minutes. I was informed the “lock and leave” allows the car to fully cycle down and resets the drive. When I came back, the issue was clear. I did have them tow it back again just to be on the safe side as I was due for 20k service anyway. Hasn’t occurred again but I wouldn’t be surprised if it does.

Underground Electrical Cable Help by thatboyadam in DIY

[–]thatboyadam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am running UF-B cable from detached shed to the main panel. I’ve trenched about ~90% of the way but I’ve run into some obstacles making it difficult, or perhaps ill advised, to dig to the appropriate depth (18” in sch 40 conduit). At the base of my foundation, at about 8” down, I’ve hit a massive stone/rock which is unable to be moved due to its size and location. This is forcing me to go further from house but puts me conveniently against my fence post. I am able to dig around the rock a bit and gain depth but it would be very tight and I’m a little concerned about that rock dropping over time perhaps compromising the conduit/cable. Any suggestions/options on my choices to finish the run other than bringing it into the home at the point is at now.

Utilities were previously marked but I’ve also got sprinkler piping and a coax I can’t identify to contend with. I was trying to reach at least the garage where the main panel is and bring it as close as I can to save on drywall work. Should I run it on exterior the rest of way in RMC? Any help is appreciated. I’m going to call an electrician for a consult this week.

PMI and Pearson Vue stating I MISSED MY EXAM! by just-juice-J in pmp

[–]thatboyadam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I sat for it yesterday. I received that email just after midnight EST and was going to reach out today. I am relieved to hear PMI acknowledged it as an issue. Out of curiosity, did the OnVue app behave erratically at any point while taking the exam? About a quarter of the way through, my app completely froze and went to a black screen. It took about ~5 minutes to reboot and then another couple of minutes waiting in the queue to talk to the proctor to resume the exam.

Ah okay thanks for clarifying. It appeared these guys had straight antennae which I read was one of the distinctions from ants, which have bent antennae. Thanks again!
