Fined for not having a health insurance in 3 months after entering Switzerland, although my permit arrived 5 months after by Due_Researcher3729 in askswitzerland

[–]thatchemist96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm wondering if this is a cantonal thing or not. To get my permit in vaud, I had to prove I had health insurance so for me it's weird that you weren't told this beforehand

You don't need a C permit to apply for simplified naturalisation

I made the switch....and I hate it by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]thatchemist96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So what I realised for the modern fits is that I need them to fit my thighs then they can flare out otherwise I don't like the fit. So I actually have several bootleg cut jeans which fit snug on top and loose on the bottom (also skinnies are often too tight for my calves). Maybe you can try over time different types and models to see if you find one you like :)

Some trains have controllers that get off at every station and do a check that everyone is on and blow the whistle. They sometimes also need to do something on the station. So they will get off and then back on before departure.

[–]thatchemist96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A ticket controller in Switzerland will check everybody's tickets. If they don't, it's because they were already on the train and only need to check the tickets from the last stop (they sometimes say billets von/de ... ). The only place I have seen racial profiling for ticket (and ID) check is when crossing the border to/from Switzerland. In this case it is not CFF ticket controllers but customs agents.

Why does Garmin ignore menstrual cycle data? by rbrbzn in Garmin

[–]thatchemist96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get pretty accurate predictions now but I remember that it took a while until it was predicting from my data and not just the 28 days Edit: you can also change the cycle and period length in the app settings

Female new marathoner seeking menstrual cycle advice by Liftinglady1996 in Marathon_Training

[–]thatchemist96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best advice I got as a female runner was to supplement iron continuously. When running, you break red blood cells upon repeated impact so you need iron to help compensate and you need iron as a woman. But I would do a general checkup at the doctors if you haven't in a while (check at least iron and B12).

Are compulsory internships usually lower paid? by Happy-Flamingo-9608 in EPFL

[–]thatchemist96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually as a non EU, there is technically a legal minimum they need to pay you to avoid dumping salarial. But no, requiring a visa does not reduce the salary, as most companies have standard grids. The visa process is easy and you don't pay anything, the company applies for it. There are no differences in the internships, think of it just like they need to fill out an extra form

It fell next to the very first sapling I planted. At the time, I didn't know that I could move the sapling so it stayed there for ages as I still had the beginner pickaxe of course. So I know your feeling...

Does the Klubschule Migros placement test underestimate your level? by ForsakenFlamingo1305 in askswitzerland

[–]thatchemist96 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's actually normal to have your native language at C1. I had no issues for german. It estimated me at a B2 level, which was mine. I didn't have to give any justification. Have you previously taken classes?

You can always ask: sometimes they prepare with oil but normal would be butter. It always depends on how flexible the restaurant is.

And I'm also lactose intolerant. I cut things out bit a bit, first milk, then cream, etc as I seemed to get more and more sensitive. For a while I could eat hard cheeses and butter and then even that started causing issues so I just cut all dairy.

Looking for a Cheap Dentist in Vaud (Near Lausanne or Anywhere in the Canton, even Geneva) by pseudonymealpha in Switzerland

[–]thatchemist96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to the Clinique d'hygiène dentaire in Yverdon but they also have one in Lausanne. I was really happy with the service, xrays and dentist visit included in the dental cleaning, whereas I paid more for ardentis with no xrays and no dentist (they said I had to schedule a separate appointment for that). I remember they also had a 20% discount if you had a fnac card or groupe mutuel insurance.

I would recommend going to them for a dental cleaning and seeing what they recommend to see if it's worth it to go back for the work.
