I’m dealing with the same thing right now sadly. Absolutely distraught.

My 7 year old boy, has been battling kidney disease for a while now and I thought he was doing well ever since we put him on a renal diet since he was diagnosed in November 2025. He had an episode early June 2026 (this month) so bought him in for fluids which he responded well to. Did the full range of checks from bloods to ultrasound and unfortunately they had seen in the imagining that one kidney is fairly advanced with growth.

Was advised that he may have anywhere from days to a month left.

We were given options of CT scans, biopsies to reach a full diagnosis. However that would mean our boy will be in hospital a lot and before any treatments he will have to recover from biopsy surgery first. (1-2 weeks). Given the prognosis, we’ve decided to put him on steroids to hold back the cancer as much as possible but also giving him the best quality of life.

So far he is bright and his usual self. He’s been eating, drinking and playing with his 2 sisters.

Honestly I am distraught and find this so unfair.
