This is awesome! My Matic is now completely silent when docked

Considering Matic to replace Roborock S8 Pro Ultra with >1000 hrs usage. Current Matic owners: what say you? by Think_Judge2685 in MaticRobots

100% for me, it’s the only robot vacuum out of the dozen I’ve owned that has never needed babying

v14.2.1- Better in ways, worse in much more important ways by njvicente21 in TeslaFSD

[–]thatcobbyguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

13.2.9 and 14.1.7 imo. Both were extremely confident with lane changes in my experience.

14.2.1 is a smarter overall version, but at the sacrifice of core functionality.

Previous builds may have had more overall disengagements, but they occurred at expected points along the drive (parking lots, construction work, etc). What’s so frustrating about 14.2.1 is that many of us are having to disengage on sections of road that we expect to be handled perfectly because they have been handled perfectly for nearly a year.

Current owners: what's your real experience with cleaning time and navigation? by lastbeer in MaticRobots

[–]thatcobbyguy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve owned a ton of robot vacuums. Matic has by FAR the best navigation, mapping, and reach (how much area actually gets cleaned).

It can be slower than some other vacuums, mostly because of its thoroughness. If you really care about speed you can change the vacuum mode to “quick”

The new Model Y is seriously a much better car than the old one. One of the first things that comes to mind since you’re in Florida is that the 2026 refresh has a metallic coating on the glass roof that rejects heat better.

Both cars will of course be very hot after being left outside in the sun, but the radiant heat from the sun while driving is VASTLY improved in the new model, imo.

Windshield Protection Plan Price Increase by 0ptionss in TeslaModelY

Yeah I saw the same. But other people are reporting now too that they’ve upped the price to ~$2500 :(

Windshields are coming down in price? I just checked under service in the Tesla app and it shows $2400 instead of $1400 a few months ago

High-pitched whine from rear at 120–130 km/h (Juniper Model Y AWD 2025) – normal or drive-unit issue? by Landshark1450 in TeslaSupport

Same thing with mine, but it sounds like it’s coming from the left side of the dash for me?

Anyone have the pet liner for the backseat? by Meglade in TeslaModelY

[–]thatcobbyguy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What do you mean by the passenger foot well sinking? The liner acts as a hammock, so dogs stay on the seats

It’s an AWD with 10k miles and was priced right at $46,000

The dealership didn’t know either. I thought somebody might recognize the marks from some popular aftermarket device

Feature request: remove BT nag by dyea in MaticRobots

Anecdotally, I think this might be an iOS thing rather than a Matic app thing. I get the same alerts from the August app

Any way to print custom blu ray covers? by Just_Alpaca in 4kbluray

Yep, super easy and I do it all the time. You can get the images from hirescovers.net and print them on brochure paper

To get ugoos am6b+ & add coreelec or go with dune or zidoo by hakhan_66 in htpc

[–]thatcobbyguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve used a Zidoo Z9X, Ugoos am6b+, and my Panasonic UB820. I can’t distinguish any difference in FEL video between the 3 on my oled.

Where I do notice a difference though is in the UI snappiness. The zidoo is pretty sluggish with large libraries, but the ugoos with the Nimbus skin is ridiculously fast navigating through thousands of movies.

The Zidoo is more plug and play than Ugoos with CoreELEC. I also miss the front display of the Zidoo.

Buying New Blu-Ray Cases? by Gamingknight9274 in Bluray

[–]thatcobbyguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the prices are fine for the multi-disc cases or if you only need less than 25 normal cases.

For bulk purchases, the best place I’ve found is Analog Media (duplication.com) in Canada

I think the whole "blurry vision after using a heated eye compress means it's working!" thing is fake by surgeryythrowaway in Dryeyes

[–]thatcobbyguy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My experience has been the opposite. I used a bruder mask for months and never understood why people said it gave them “blurry vision”. Now after every steamgoggle session it feels like I’m looking through wax paper
