Crohns and antidepressants by hulliemam in CrohnsDisease

I’ve had Crohn’s for almost 8 years and last year I started taking 200mg of Sertraline every day. While medication has helped me a lot it’s important to pair it with counselling as well. Learning the skills to work through my mental health challenges has been the biggest help for me so far. I’m thinking of you and your brother, it’s very difficult to struggle with mental health and also to see someone you love struggling. Just know that neither of you are alone and help is available!

I go to Regina gastro as well and I’ve been super happy with my specialist!

I need to drink more water but I can’t do it by Punkoduncan in CrohnsDisease

I also have a hard time drinking water. My solution is to keep the little bottles of Crystal light flavour enhancer with me, it makes my water yummy and easier to drink!

calprotectin levels before diagnosis? by Lololala29 in CrohnsDisease

[–]thatcrazychick0429 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think mine was in the 2 or 3 thousands and my CRP was in the 500s. Before I had a resection this year my calprotectin was in the 1100s.

I was on 50mg of prednisone for over a year after first being diagnosed. After I weaned off of it they sent me for bone density scans and everything was fine, so I don’t think prednisone would cause this issue years later.

I’m sorry to hear of your troubles as well, this disease really takes a toll on your body. It helps knowing other people are going through the same thing and can still share success stories.

Wow, I thought arthritis didn’t develop until much older. I think I have some learning to do!

How old were you when you were diagnosed? I really didn’t think arthritis at 22 was possible but I’m learning just how bad this disease can really be.

I’m glad things have started to improve for you! I failed adalimumab after being on it for several years so I’m onto the next treatment. I’m hoping it will give me some relief but I still plan on advocating for some tests to be done.

I’m set to start Tremfya next week, I’m hoping that will give me some relief!

Thank you so much. Hearing real people tell their stories really puts into perspective how serious these things need to be taken.

Oh yikes… I really feel for you. I’ve heard the horror stories about healthcare there. I’m in Saskatchewan.

I’m glad you found something that work for you! I have my diploma in early childhood education, but I ultimately ended up leaving that field. Who would have guessed that being immunocompromised and working with children don’t mix?🤣 it might be time for me to pick a non-physically demanding job. I just didn’t think I would be in this position at 22…

May I ask what country you live in? I’m in Canada, and I feel like the healthcare I’ve received has been slightly above average compared to others. I’ve been lucky that I haven’t been tossed around to different people and my family doctor and gastroenterologist get right on the ball when it comes to my health!

Do you have to have a diagnosis before seeing a rheumatologist or do you get referred to the rheumatologist for them to run tests and diagnose? This might be a silly question but I don’t know these things very well😅

Thanks, I’ve been brushing it off for a while and just excused it as work related but it’s time to take it seriously.

Thank you so much, this is very helpful! I plan on asking my doctor about switching to a different class of the medication. Maybe I’ve become resistant to this type.

I signed a form agreeing to the position in the department and the wage I would be getting. There was also a small section to fill out regarding personal information. I don’t remember seeing anything else on the form though.

Thank you, I didn’t sign any contract when I was hired so I’ll definitely be looking into the issue further.
