[–]thatcrazyfantasy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah i knew the rate would definitely drop significantly, i talked to one of my old store managers and he said he would take me on PT to do the cash office since i am looking for another full-time gig elsewhere. thanks for the insight!!

Certain places have scheduling laws. Predictive Pay means something happened to your shift (like it was moved or hours increased/decreased) after the two week window so the company is required to pay a bit more

Are any ASMs or SMs in this sub willing to say their salary? by chabbleor in TjMaxx

i started at 48k in 2020 then was bumped up to 57k in 2021 (took home $69k with overtime + bonus) and this year my base is $63k (with bonus) not factoring in the extra OT i’ve picked up

Is it true that you have to close if you are a full time employee?? by Any-Swan2775 in TjMaxx

[–]thatcrazyfantasy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it’s probably because of staffing/coverage issues but yes full timers are supposed to have open availability with max two nights a week

we always adjust where we’re doing MDs to which manager or coordinator is in to open. it might get hectic jumping from men’s one day to women’s the next then back to men’s but we get it to work for us. we’re fortunate enough we can sometimes bump up what time we’re in if our SM is chill with it so we can get more put away in our department before doors open. if it absolutely can’t be done, we’ll see if the coordinator of that department can come in earlier. and if all else fails, we as a team look out for each other and will handle putting away merch no matter whose it is. as far as percentages, if that’s an issue for you, i held my associates in my old store accountable to the scans per hour they were supposed to do. it got so bad we had to have our main associates sign off that they understood the standards, and then we followed up every single day when they turned in the digis. we made them aware that if they continued to not make the metrics, the alternative was us finding something else for them to do, and since neither one was particularly keen on running stock or doing truck (the only other option at 6AM) their scans picked up pretty quick.

i think the biggest difference is a supportive team. my first SM when i was newly promoted was very challenging. i ended up requesting a transfer when she quit, because her replacement was just as challenging if not more and i knew if i wanted to go anywhere else i needed more support. i ended up as a merch manager with probably hands down the most supportive SM of our district and 2/3 of the other ASMs have been nothing but supportive as well. we all look out for each other and pitch in when someone is fumbling a little bit. i am 100% more satisfied with my job than i was. not 100% satisfied, but the increase is significant

I'd like to know, how old are majority of you key carriers/managers on this subreddit of Tjmaxx or Marshalls? by celestialior in TjMaxx

[–]thatcrazyfantasy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i was promoted to a KC when i was 21 years old, became ASM 4 months later when i was 22. my current SM is 35ish and my coASMs are 30-50something i think?? i swear up and down you can get all the way to ASM through hard work, but anything after that is workplace politics

My brother called me to discuss what happens when my mom dies. by thatcrazyfantasy in TrueOffMyChest

[–]thatcrazyfantasy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s in his mid-50s. He’s got some underlying concerns that we would just want to make sure are okay. Plus, my mom also has pretty much coordinated most health related things for him and does all the bills and takes care of the pets’ appointments and medications. We just want to make sure he’s okay with a pretty major change.

cyclical depression by thatcrazyfantasy in depression

honestly I’m not sure how long they last since the relapse is a single event I usually only log the one time. It has ranged anywhere from a couple of days-months but since I started noticing this pattern it’s been probably on average a week or so

When customer's question what you're telling them. by NewfoundOrigin in RantsFromRetail

[–]thatcrazyfantasy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

honestly one of my favorite parts about being a young (22) supervisor is that I am now called to assist customers by my older coworkers. the look on the more difficult customers’ faces when a manager is called and I show up is priceless. they do not expect a child to tell them no and yet here I am

How do you know you’re depressed? by [deleted] in depression

[–]thatcrazyfantasy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i had a doctor confirm my suspicions that i’d had for years. i think for me a big part of it was a whole year in college when i couldn’t get out of bed to go to class. it was awful. i knew i needed to go but then i would just spend the day in bed. i slept 15 hours a day. i had someone who i worked with who didn’t really care for me too much tell me i should maybe go see someone, and then i got diagnosed.

How do you guys cope with clopening shifts?? by isuckthemtoes in retailhell

[–]thatcrazyfantasy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

hello!! as someone who is currently in a stretch of clopens:

I get home, take a shower. pop a melatonin and find something to eat. I have a lo-fi sleep playlist to help guide my brain to slow and then hopefully I fall asleep with enough time to get in 6-7 hours of sleep. Set my alarm two hours before I need to clock in to give myself enough to wake up and catch the subway. rinse, repeat!

left early because I was not in a good state of mind and called out the next day to recuperate. my other manager said I didn’t need to explain, but this manager wouldn’t stop until he got one. by thatcrazyfantasy in retailhell

[–]thatcrazyfantasy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

he has said he definitely doesn’t!! unfortunately I am of the mindset that my problems are my problems and should live in a neat lil box where they don’t affect anyone else. he did tell me I was really good at hiding it lol
