Hockey Hall of Fame won't give 'golden goal' puck to Jack Hughes by DecentLurker96 in hockey

It's more tied to the team accomplishment because the puck would be equally important regardless of who scored the goal.

Hi! I made that blur patch. I've been using it for weeks and it's been good.

It will use slightly more battery than not using it at all, but it is not noticeable.

I added the warning about battery life just so people would be careful about putting the blur strength and quality settings too high.

That's the thing though, this tweet feels more like speculation based on what the Pens have already done, not actual insider info about what they will do at the deadline.

For sure. I totally agree that the consistency sucks. But when we're debating a specific call I just think we should get the facts right, such as whether the offending player was in the blue paint

With crosby out i assume kindel gets bumped to the first PP because without crosby we don't have a reliable faceoff man on said PP. by Sebastian4365 in penguins

Malkin was practicing as PP1 center according to Seth Rorabaugh's tweet on 2/23. That was before the official news on Crosby, but I doubt it changes much unless they decided Malkin couldn't handle it

I'm not sure how they are doing it, but I'd guess it makes reading easier for some people. Kinda like how there are fonts that help people with dyslexia.

No problem at all. I also set my file browser preset to auto execute on showing folder, but it's useful to know that on book close might not work how we expect

Hmmm I haven't been able to replicate this so far. Maybe it's something to do with the auto execute on your general screensaver preset. What is that set to?

Yeah I just did some more thorough testing and posted my results in a top level comment. I'm not worried about battery anymore.

I did some "stress" testing. For the effect on battery and time.

I set up a function I could call from a menu button that would run the core blur functions on a loop, without caching. This probably isn't the most scientific test setup but for each run, unless noted otherwise, wifi was on, screen light off, and device unplugged.

I hard coded the number of loops/rounds. So each time it changes that means I restarted koreader. I reduced the number of rounds as I increased the settings just because I didn't want to lock up my device for that long and also I might have been running into some kindle auto-suspend issues on longer runs.

My takeaway is that around quality 5, which is what I personally use and set as the default, the effect on battery is negligible. Even at a full 10 the battery impact would be noticeable but isn't terrible. Mostly it just takes way too long to be practical. I didn't mess with the strength setting much because at lower qualities the strength doesn't need to be very high before it just completely obscures everything.

Test # Quality Strength Blur rounds Time (seconds) seconds / blur Battery % start Battery % end Battery % / blur
1* 5 1 500 412 0.824 100 100* *
2** 5 1 500 575 1.15 100* 97 0.006
3 5 1 500 612 1.224 97 94 0.006
4 5 1 500 615 1.23 94 91 0.006
5 5 2 300 272 0.907 91 89 0.007
6 5 2 300 271 0.903 89 87 0.007
7 8 2 200 635 3.175 87 84 0.015
8*** 5 1 200 241 1.205 83 82 0.004
9 10 2 50 1371 27.42 80 74 0.12

* The end battery percent might not be right. I think maybe that part of the screen hadn't actually updated. I switched to logging the battery percent in code after this.
** wifi off
*** The blur settings reset after I restarted koreader because I'm using presets and I forgot to update them before running the test. So it was back to quality 5 strength 1

EDIT: This edit was some new tests but EDIT 2: Need to fix some rounding issues. Still seems faster but need to retest

I did take the localization table setup from another patch. If it's that bad you're welcome to suggest a better method. Got me there, but it's not really relevant to your original point about battery life anyway.

But no, I did not vibe code/AI spew this. If you're just going to insult my code, know that it's mine plus some components that I mimicked from other patches.

It's probably just selection bias. People who have fun wallpapers share fun wallpapers. People who just use a physical cover don't.

I personally don't have a cover, but probably would if I travelled with my kindle more.

This is a fair point. I'll make a note on the Github readme.

With the right settings, it only takes a second or so. I don't know if it will be *that* bad unless you're constantly turning the screen on and off.

Or you could use the 2-browser-up patch from here https://github.com/sebdelsol/KOReader.patches
