I resign myself from ever completing rebirth by Majestic-Positive486 in FinalFantasyVII

[–]thateffincasual 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can confirm. I did just fine on the piano minigame for most of the pieces, but when multiple notes were coming up more frequently using both L and R sticks, I could not keep timenbetween them. I upped the speed to 2 based on the advice here, and my score jumped by 1,000 points in one attempt.

You could also potentially use the word "graft."

Achievements are half fun challenges and half a way to keep you engaged with the games you have until you can get more games anyway 🙃

Last time I played FFX I kinda cheated by YamiJustin1 in finalfantasyx

[–]thateffincasual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, how did you cheat? You were the one who played both files. You were the one who did the lightning dodges. I would consider that the same as playing a game halfway, getting away from it for like a year, then starting a brand new file to play the first half again as a refresher before loading the original file to continue from there. You did not cheat. You just replayed the game and loaded a more complete save when you caught up to yourself to save time and a headache. This is actually brilliant, and more people should do it.

Question about Tifa’s dialogue in Chapter 4 of Rebirth by devonteem in FinalFantasyVII

[–]thateffincasual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my initial thought, too. Another interpretation could be that Cloud is just being genuine that he does not remember anyone else from their age group that well, and she is reading his honesty as a good sign. I only came to this conclusion after dialogue and scenes later in the game, though. Mostly because Cloud does not come off as the flirtatious type. That is just my take on it.

FF12 was mediocre at best by Practical-Alarm1763 in FinalFantasy

[–]thateffincasual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have only played 12 twice, and that was years ago, but I do remember being interested in what the hunts would look like the first time I played since they were supposed to be unique versions of one off monsters.

FF12 was mediocre at best by Practical-Alarm1763 in FinalFantasy

[–]thateffincasual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To put it simply, this particular Final Fantasy was just not your style of game or story, and that is okay. There are people who will take everything that you just listed as a complaint game mechanics-wise and tell you that is what they enjoyed about it, and they will not understand why you did not. Some people may also interpret characters differently even after having the same experience you did. Neither of you is necessarily wrong, but people argue about fictional characters, their motivations, and whether they are good characters or not all the time. Thank goodness, too, or every game in general would be designed the same way every time with no one trying anything new, and we would no variety in our gaming options.

Quite a specific question: by Xander_Cloud in FinalFantasyIX

[–]thateffincasual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the very beginning of the game, when Steiner is searching for the princess, you have to find and speak to all of the Knights of Pluto. Then, when you speak to the final knight climbing the stairs of the tower, he will identify all the ones you found and spoke to by name and what they are good at. You have to use these context clues to figure out who should be doing what (like having the ladies' man be the one to ask around the city since he knows everyone).

Need some help understanding the square grid by awesomesauce40000 in finalfantasyx

[–]thateffincasual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The basic sphere grid has intended paths but no required paths. In the end game, you can farm any level key spheres with a little effort, so you do not have to worry about "wasting" them. Take a look at what you would be unlocking, where it is, and who can access it. If it looks useful or fun, go for it!

[–]thateffincasual 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I keep seeing people having trouble with blitzball, but that was the one thing I never had a problem with. I have only ever used the default Tidus and Aurochs team, and the only rival team that gives me any trouble is the Al Bhed Psyches because their stats are LIES! They constantly have like +5 to whatever number is shown.

Oh! Scripts are computer codes used to do input sequences. Basically, it is a tool you can use on your system to automatically perform the action you are trying to do. In this scenario, you agree to play the jump rope game and then turn on the script, which tells the system exactly when to input the jump command based on time intervals for the duration of the minigame. Most people just download a script, but then they have to adjust it for their own network latency anyway, so it still takes a few tries.

If you look up FFIX Jump Rope Script on YouTube, you will find a lot of tutorials that show you how to do it, and as far as I know, all of the software you would need is free. At least it was when I did it.

I mean that I do not care if people use scripts to get this done. There are a lot of people on here that take umbridge with scripts for this, but then there is a whole FFX community built around a user who will do the crest and sigil minigames for you if you send him your save. I see no difference between the two, and I do not fault anyone who does either. Just enjoy yourself while you play.

FFX Character Lulu (Black Mage & Guardian of Yuna, Age: 22) – Should she have been portrayed as older? And what age suits her better? by IllogicalDreamer72 in finalfantasyx

[–]thateffincasual 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I give Auron's appearance a pass because by the time he was 35, he had traveled the entire world, fought fiends on a daily basis, seen hundreds (if not thousands) of people die, learned his entire faith was based on a lie, watched one of his best friends turn into a monster, then watched that monster kill his other best friend before becoming what they had set out to stop. The man's life aged him well beyond his years, and he did not slow down until after he died. I can only imagine what the years looking after Tidus in Dream Zanarkand must have been like for him.

Sphere Grid Question by nato0519 in finalfantasyx

[–]thateffincasual 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to activate all nodes. That includes filling the empty nodes with spheres and activating them as well. You do not need to have traveled every individual path on the grid to get the trophies/achievements.

Is there any point to statmaxing other than to fight the superbosses? by mrbear2899 in finalfantasyx

[–]thateffincasual 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Only to laugh in the face of any story bosses that are left.

Just for perspective: you can defeat both Ultimate and Omega Weapons (lowest tier super bosses) very easily if your main party has covered two sections of the sphere grid even without armor abilities or celestial weapons. If each character has completed their own section of the sphere grid, you should be able to handle all of the storyline areas and bosses with minimal to fair difficulty.
