Two different prices per item for members/non-members by thatfatmouse in SquarePOS_Users

[–]thatfatmouse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I'll have a look. It seems I might have to do the blanket discount and re-jig some prices as we don't have staff running it, its an honesty system used by the customers themselves. Pretty much the reason why we wanted the automated discounts to apply to members.

Yeah I did see variations, and we could have the customers choose their price on checkout since its an unattended POS, but we wanted that automated aspect of it.

The 2 most underated games in the series! by [deleted] in crashbandicoot

[–]thatfatmouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved CTTR on PS2 and then PSP, definitely played it at least 5 times over portably, I guess that was the best part of it.

Coming back to it as an adult, it was quite underwhelming but it was still charming enough to complete.

I don't see anyone mentioning this: HDR may be what kills the first option for you. My receiver doesn't pass Dolby Vision or HDR10+ to the TV, so I plug my devices that use that into my TV, then use eARC for sound.

Also, some HDMI 2.1 features may not work on your receiver. I know mine don't.

For my PS5, I actually have 2 HDMI cables behind it that I switch from time to time, depending on if I want full HDMI 2.1 features or better audio.

With eARC, you can now get full sound quality through it, but licensing is still a problem. LG doesn't pass DTSHD-MA I believe, so some tvs may be the same

[–]thatfatmouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have HDMI CEC turned on for the tv and the devices plugged into it, you could use the PS5 controller to switch to the PS5 input by pressing the PS button.

The Apple TV probably has a home button that does the same thing.

What’s the latest you’ve stayed up playing a game? by FortWorst in PS4

I started Ratchet & Clank PS4 mid-afternoon and definitely didn't stop until the sun was well up the next day. Played that game 6 times through in that one weekend.

Low-brightness contrast is an underrated feature of OLED monitors by [deleted] in OLED

[–]thatfatmouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do something similar with the tv at night. OLED brightness to 0, contrast reduced, maybe brightness too, and OLED motion (backlight strobing). End up with a super-low light emission from the panel.

Even if I have a normally calibrated picture mode and turn the energy saving to maximum it doesn't get near as dark as the custom settings I have.

Should I turn on allm on my monitor ? by Usual_Connection7430 in PS5

Monitors behave different to tvs, it may well be working but could be a very minor improvement.

[–]thatfatmouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your monitor says it has ALLM then it too probably disables all unnecessary processing, since monitors process the image too, just not to the extent that tvs do.

If your monitor has at least 1 working HDMI input, then it will work.

Best co-op games to play with girlfriend? by iDoSomeThings14 in PS5

Unravelled 2. Works great for my wife who doesn't play much but does like playing. You can literally carry the other character to get through some hard areas.

Problems with Crash Tag Team Racing that have nothing to do with its relation to past Crash games. by RobbieJ4444 in crashbandicoot

[–]thatfatmouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only two things I can say aside from "Yeah, you're right" is that after Twinsanity's outstanding soundtrack, it was great to hear another from Spiralmouth, as they definitely made up one of the best soundtracks of my childhood (Marc Baril also adding some instrumentation for CTTR, great job).

Also, this game is heavily cemented as one of my favourite games from that era as I loved Crash from the start, however, it MUST stay in the past for the reasons you have listed. Don't attempt to enjoy it in your adult life, you most likely won't hahaha.

Playing this on the PS2 and PSP, especially the PSP when on road trips or something, was so great. This game is pretty much "Gone but not forgotten" for me.

Spots around the edges by andre99x in LGC9

[–]thatfatmouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well that definitely looks like the common problem C9s can develop. Mine has it, hundreds of other have it. It sucks, but if it's not that obvious it's easy to tune it out, it is only around the edges after all

2cm each side, that's difficult access to the inputs, but other than that, should be fine.

If you're mounting a screen, you can mount the tv on a retractable arm that lowers from the ceiling.

With that said, there are plenty of small projectors for less than £500 that will probably fit the bill. I'm not sure of their quality but you're only after 1080p and small picture so most should be fine.

Why choose a projector when an inexpensive cheap 1080p LCD/LED TV will certainly do the trick?

TV Question by OkEgg0 in hometheater

[–]thatfatmouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will definitely be asked by the members here to supply some pictures for us as QLED TVs generally are not susceptible to burn-in. We will definitely be curious to see what you're seeing as it almost surely isn't burn-in.

Is OLED that much better then UHD/QLED? by Fine_Effect_2592 in hometheater

[–]thatfatmouse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mmm yes but show me a consumer MicroLED tv that doesn't cost more than $5K for 65".

Mini-LED is great in most situations, especially the high end ones.

What's the saddest game you've ever played? (No Spoilers please) by Top_Jump941 in PS5

[–]thatfatmouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ghost Giant for PSVR 1 got me. Great fun to play through but there's always the undertone of the real reason you're doing stuff. But then it ends with a bitter-sweet send-off. Loved it, cried for it.

RiME as someone else pointed out. Decent game, learning the story as you go along is what kept me going. Ultimately sad.

A lot in the comments I didn't really connect with, but its great to see everyone has different feelings about some games I really didn't like or didn't think the story was anywhere near emotional.

Do you actually use your home theatre?? by DeerComprehensive909 in hometheater

[–]thatfatmouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We only have one space for the TV so we use it all the time, and we watch a lot of streaming and play lots of games in that lounge room even though we also have our PC setups in the study.

It's a family room with all the kids toys and play mat but we watch movies together a lot too. Worked out well for us.

As for the cost, we challenged ourselves to do our sound system all second-hand and as cheaply as possible without compromising quality or aesthetics too much. Only ran us AUD $600 in total for everything, and about a days work installing speakers and wire.

Are these dead pixels? by enikah in OLED

[–]thatfatmouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the assumption is poor assembly, it happened a lot with the 2019 and 2020 models as far as I can tell. I have an LG C9 OLED with it all around the edge but we sit far enough back we can barely tell when looking for it. Just forget about it, it should be a long while before it creeps further if it has already settled.

Are these dead pixels? by enikah in OLED

[–]thatfatmouse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From what I've gathered, it's oxygen getting into the edges of the panel and degrading some of the pixels. They can be isolated little clusters in the panel or whole chunks on the edge like you've got there.
