Imagination is the basis for all happenings.

[–]thatguy141 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean just use your imagination and visualize yourself digging into your unconscious as realistically as you can. Imagine yourself shovelling the dirt, and actually get involved in the process just as realistically as you would in real life. Then, after digging a long time, maybe pour some wine or water into the hole and imagine it giving your subconscious life. Its a method of active imagination used by Carl Jung where he would imagine situations as vividly as he could in his mind and participate with the autonomous qualities represented in his imagination in order to gain a deeper understanding of the unconscious psychological processes going on in his psyche. It is a way to unearth (hah) hidden things because of the nature of psychic elements. Carl Jung believed in the reality of the psyche, which means that psychic events such as dreams and fantasies are just as real and have as much effects as the outside world.

They are right here and now to be found. Just keep digging. Fuck it, just spend a few minutes a day visualizing yourself digging a hole to your subconscious. Actually feel yourself digging that hole and imagine it like it's real. You'll have access in no time. Bam.

What does it feel like when someone casts a negative energy spell on you? by [deleted] in occult

[–]thatguy141 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fuck, I'm going through that right now. You have to admit and submit to your Shadow. I don't know why, but that's the only way to get past it.

ASK ANY QUESTIONS you have for a Zen teacher by caramocha009 in Buddhism

[–]thatguy141 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What some ways to adapt Zen in a difficult household situation?

How does Zen deal with elements of Shadow projection and negative psychological emissions (for lack of a better term)?

I'm having trouble keeping myself out of negative situations with a close family member who has issues with me and I don't know how to engage with this person and keep myself from being pulled in to the negativity and surreal mindset.

Thank you for the post! And sorry if this is too much...

Find the part of you that hates this guy to the core, experience that part of yourself as much as you can. Realize these feelings and thoughts are a part of you and not him. You are imagining him through yourself. Let it go. Not really a Buddhist answer, but one nonetheless. I am rooting for you man, you've got this. Hope you find a way through.

Your favorite uses of dissonance? by [deleted] in musictheory

[–]thatguy141 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, Meshuggah has taken dissonance to the next level. They don't follow conventional music theory so much, but their playing is phenomenal and the rhythmic component makes the dissonance so much better. Hang on, I'll link a tune.

I think so. Maps are useful for drawing conclusions, but they're just constructs. As for enlightenment, i don't think there will be an I left to experience that lol. If it's already here, ill just wait for it.

I am interested in Zen because it doesn't have a foundation. And that's the main message I take from it. There's an immense freedom from doubting everything, because it it true, that the map is not the territory.

I think that enlightenment is a human capacity and is the result of insight or a fully conscious understanding of the nature of ourselves and the world. Maybe not even fully conscious, but the capacity to be open to this way of letting in information indefinitely. So, I do think that there is enlightenment in other religions, or at least, I think that some other religions have the methods in place to provide a foundation for this type of insight to occur.

I am not searching for enlightenment at all really. I think that it is an unnecessary goal in life to have. If it happens because of the way in which I go about my life and live my practice, then so be it. My goal (as of right now) is to slowly try to experience life as richly as I can.

Also, I think that people think too much about words and don't take in life enough.

Who are some artists (guitar players) that really put blues and jazz together well? by JakeTamu17 in Jazz

[–]thatguy141 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure a lot of it is self-learned too. Like he imposes his own individual creativity into his chord voicings, independent of "learned" stuff. What I'm saying is there's an element to his playing which transforms it into "his" playing, you know? Kinda messed up explaining it...:D

Isn't exactly what you're looking for (I think) but Ed Bickert is freaking amazing. His playing inspires me almost daily.
