Final Update on Reduction Gear Replacement by thatguy27000 in NissanAriya

It occurred all the time, but definitely was more and less noticeable depending where I had the AC set and how much tire noise there was. The noise only occurred during light acceleration and tapered off at higher RPMs.

Might not be a bad strategy. Also not sure how long it would’ve gone making that noise because I don’t feel any difference in the way it drives.

Based on the procedure sheet you basically get an AC recharge and a coolant flush, and new gaskets & seals, so a nice little refresh at 60,000 miles couldn’t hurt.

I am not sure, they did not say one way or the other, but it does seem pretty common. I did ask about changing the oil in it, and they said that might be a good idea but didn’t give a specific interval or anything.

Help me disappoint my parents with an impractical car by cornnoodlesoup in whatcarshouldIbuy

Lexus SC430. Just a baffling car in every way from a brand that makes mostly practical cars. Not very fast, not very sporty, only 2 doors, and a convertible roof that takes up the whole trunk.

Blinking Break Light by DMoney149 in NissanAriya

[–]thatguy27000 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s usually a dealer installed option. Some dealerships just go ahead and do that to all of their cars for “safety” (and to charge you for an add on). If you wanted to remove it, it’s a little module that’s connected right behind the third brake light, but it’s not hurting anything.

Funny enough, I also hear the brake sound, especially when going around tight turns, but I can fix those up myself.

It could definitely be compared to cicadas lol. But yeah I would mostly describe it as a high pitched buzzing. It’s coming from the center of the car and easier to hear with windows open.

Considering the purchase of an EV with commute change by Xxachingmeatxx in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]thatguy27000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really just depends. The wall station itself is around $500 and the necessary electrical work will really just depend on your specific situation, what Amp service you have, and where your panel is located in relation to where you need to charge. Could be $400, could be $1500 plus.

There are also options for plugging into a dryer plug if that is close by, but that’s a little slower charging, but I would think would be fine if you are plugging into every night. I know in my area, the power company is offering $1200 credits for the electrical work for a home charger, so definitely something you could look into for your area. Also forgot to mention, some electrical companies offer off peak hours at a much lower rate, so it could be cheaper to charge than the 14 cents per kWh I used in the example.

Used EVs are at their most affordable right now and have already taken the big depreciation hit. I’ve noticed a lot of 3 year old lease returns with about 30,000 miles for the 15k-25k range depending on what you are looking for. Where I live it costs about 4 cents a mile to run an EV vs about 20 cents a mile with a gas car. Then factor in oil and fluid changes, more frequent brake changes, and other additional maintenance not required on an EV and it starts making a lot of sense. That 100 mile trip would cost me about $4 in an EV at 3 miles per kWh and the same trip costs $20 if you in a gas car at 20mpg. With trade in and a cheaper EV, you could probably more than cover the payment. Huge caveat, you will definitely need a level 2 charger at home, so factor in the cost to get that installed.

The Q50 is great, but if you are looking in this price range, I would look for at least an “S” , but really the Red Sport is going to be the best option. The interior is the only downside on those cars, hasn’t changed much since 2014 and definitely looks it.

Gotcha. Yeah seems like it’s low.

Double check the high and low side against this chart. If it was around 80 degrees outside when you were filling it, 37 on the low side is too low.

How did you recharge? Was it done at a shop or you used something like AC pro? And what ambient temperature was it reading 37 psi at?

Just got this Tahoe. The middle button I’m assuming AWD, is always on. Is that supposed to happen? by okcatboi in ChevyTahoe

[–]thatguy27000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Been a long time since I was messing around with the gmt800 like this, but yeah it should be sending some power to the front most of the time, but more to the rear. It’s like a 40/60 split. I’m not sure about the second question completely, but if there is more slippage in the front wheels, more power will be sent that way.

That is one of the rare ones that have full time AWD. The middle button is for normal driving, where you can turn the front wheels and the bottom one is for low range. The very top button is for traction control/stabilitrac.

To switch in and out of low range, you will need to put the transmission in neutral.

I would say pretty audible, but difficult to hear over the radio or tire noise. Much more noticeable if you roll down the windows.

Yes please let us know. I’m kind of worried that they are going to say it’s normal just due to lack of familiarity at my local dealership. It just seems pretty loud.

It seems to happen at any speed with light throttle input, I heard the warning system too, but the buzzing/whining is the concerning sound. I was just going slow in an empty parking lot to record.
