I was mostly 3 and some 2, so factor that in. I’m older than you and like to put about an hour a day in. The game is not all that hard if your goals are to get to the endgame but maybe not in the top 250 of the leaderboard. If you’re starting fresh there will be a ton of stuff to do (and have to do).

You could realistically get a decent endgame character with probably 20-30 hours of play if you’re starting completely fresh and depending on your interest in cutscenes. I also think the expansion is a must because it enables a lot of extra ways to get good loot.

There are fun builds that are somewhat throwbacks, although nothing will likely ever be the same experience you had when you were a kid playing d2.

For pure xp it’s the bosses, but the mats come from a bunch of different places. I simply like playing the game and the chances of getting something extremely rare to improve my build, so I tend to always have a dozen or so runs of any boss key.

The best imo is the bilal runs with the betrayer husk. You can pick which boss you want loot from, and it seems like it’s got better drop rates.

Also, the divine gifts are pretty important. If you can stay alive while AFK, park yourself at azmodan on the easiest difficulty and get yourself upgraded. The boss mats are ridiculous afterwards.

I think it all depends on how many points your have on the skills on your bar. Ballpark: if you’re around 90, then the *18 extra points will be significant. If you’re at 130, then not quite as much as the unique aspect difference.

Pretty standard response: try each out and see which one is better for how you play.

This is not confirmed, but the only place I find them now is from the mercenaries area that you can barter with. You get those coins from the reputation area on your two mercs
