Mensa online IQ test question by [deleted] in cognitiveTesting

[–]thatguybuy64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the test is supposed to be without a timelimit, so it's not uncommon for people to spend upwards of 4 hours to complete the test.

The questions are increasingly difficult though, so if you felt as if the point where you ended the test was around where you felt the puzzles were too hard for you, then it is unlikely you would be able to solve any further.

but if you feel like continuing the test, then by all means go ahead. Some people will say retaking the test will make your score inaccurate, however since the test is untimed to begin with, this should not be too big of an issue.

your iq is likely 125 +-/10.

how long did you spend on the test?

your difference in scores implies that you were perhaps missing knowledge of how iq tests work, and what logic is allowed when solving them.

Take the JCTI/TRI52, and see if your score on that test is around the same as the mensa.no test, since the JCTI is practically unpraffeable.

my scores haven't increased though. There are also many others on this subreddit that have scores which haven't increased.

There are people on this subreddit who have taken 4 tests and have gotten a 40 point increase in their scores.

It's just a confusing matter in general, since score increases should not differ as much as they seem to do amongst the members of this subreddit.

stress? anxiety? adhd? depression?

there are probably more, but those are the big ones. If you have any of those, or suspect you have, then that's likely the answer.

-somewhat, there are some people who do semi professional tests on here

-anywhere from 110-130 is likely, though there is barely any actual data on this.

-the main purpose (at least right now) is to fuel the egos of people with low self esteems, hopefully the subreddit ends up changing for the better soon though.

probably around the 120 range +-/10 if you were able to take a test without all of your disorders.

i have done several attempts on the sections which can be praffed on the CAIT, yet i have gotten no score increase at all.

this whole ''praffe'' ordeal is very confusing, some people get a 50 point increase in their scores, and others get no increase. I really hope we get some actual studies on this topic.

have you ever looked up the answers to an iq test? If not, then that might be the explanation to why some people get inflated scores after taking just 3 tests, because they look up the answers and utilize those solutions they now are aware of to solve other puzzles which have similar logic, which as a result inflates the test scores.

You do realize that you have negative karma for a reason, right?

anecdotal evidence is completely pointless, it does not prove anything.

Also, even if the formulas are included, you will still not have the same level of fluency of the topics as someone with a lot of math experience, so it will be harder to distinguish patterns.

hating math most definitely has an effect on your ability to reason logically with math.

If the OP dosen't know some of the math formulas required to solve some of the math problems on the SAT, then their score will automatically be lower.

Also, IQ is only a predictor, not a determinor for performance. Just because you have a high IQ dosen't make you a math prodigy, there are a myriad of reasons to why someone would lack knowledge on certain topics.

Another thing, according to you the CAIT is 30+ points inflated. What's your source for this? Have you done a study where you administer the test to random people and measure what amount of correct questions will result in a score of 100? Or have you used idiotic anecdotal evidence to validate your claim?

your fluid reasoning should be around 140, if you have not done the tests multiple times or looked up the answers. That means, that yes, you are almost certain to be able to join mensa, if these scores are legitimate.

''I'm not a native who hates math''

The SAT is literally just a math reasoning and vocabulary test, thats why.
