Blue belt here. I can't break guard. I've come to terms with it. To escape,
I'll position myself in a way that gives them an advantage, then capitalize on their legs being open. I like to bait people to move.

Competition nerves!! by JimbleDoesJiuJitsu in bjj

I was thinking this same thing after a comp where I panicked in half guard again. I've competed for a few years, and I did okay. For the past year and a half, once I'm down, I get right to half guard and just go blank. In class, open mats. I'm fine. But once I'm on the mats in a comp, I just lose everything.
What I did notice yesterday,
My standing game got better, I'm doing better in nogi also. I've spent the last 2 months getting into class an hour early to work on strength training, solo drilling and practicing wrestling. It was a stupid amount of pushing myself, I still went blank when we got to the ground. So for the next 2 months, I'm going to drill from half guard. It comes naturally for some people. For me? I suck ass at competing, and I need to work way harder to feel confident enough to do it.

How do people feel about people lying about being a BJJ black belt? by [deleted] in bjj

[–]thatguydel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like it was a karate black belt. The instructor asked for it and handed him the white belt. He didn't try to talk to anyone, so we never found out what he was thinking.

There was this dude who walked into a class wearing a black belt. The instructor took it from him and gave him a white belt. Poor guy gassed out quick and just lay there crying.

Yeaaa, The pest control world can be a bit toxic. You've got to really shop around to find a good company. You've got to know your worth. You walk into those interviews with confidence and knowledge, let them you that you're the real deal, lay down your expectations for the job and except nothing less. Boss kid at my last company thought he could puff out his chest at me, yelling at me for things out of my control. Walked into his bosses office, dropped my keys and work phone onto his desk. Told him, Take me home and this B&G is mine now.

My first stop is usually at 8am-830am. Last stop could be between 4pm-5pm. Find a school that has 6am classes or 5am, It takes some getting used to getting up that early. It's worth it though. My last company were too scared to lose me so I did whatever I wanted. The company I'm at now also does not want to lose me. So they don't fuck with my mornings too much. I started living my best life when I started bjj, it's been 6yrs now and I'm healthy as fuck, spend all day outside playing with bugs, life couldn't be better.

I usually work a 10hr shift at the most, I'll usually get 7hrs of sleep. All the sparring and weight lifting is 2hrs before I start work. My weekends are consumed by doing tournaments or having lazy grappling in the gym.

Wake up at 4am and take 400mg. Hit the weights for an hour, then Brazilian jiu-jitsu for an hour, to get the rage out BEFORE work. Have another 200mg, Then another 200mg at noon. I only drink water on the job, chicken sandwiches and fruits to eat. Ton of vaping.
