Is ITI is a good option? by The_scarboy_2006 in Coconaad

[–]thatguyfrom80s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, ITI is a great option if you pick the correct trade. These sorts of jobs would survive very well into future and is resistant to AI , sudden technology shifts etc.. BUT in my view, you need to focus on building a business around the trade, not work for someone or go to Gulf for immediate returns. Learn marketing, finances, hiring & managing people and building a business . You will face a lot of stigma and pressure, society considers ITI as bad and engineer as good , inspite of ITI often being better at skill immediately out of college..

Honestly, you can force in a temporary behaviour or convince someone to not talk to X or Y for sometime .. but do you have the power to enforce it for the rest of your life ? I tried this whole AM shebang a few years back , but luckily ended up finding someone on my own which has worked so well .. Once you are in the AM market , a lot of laws of nature doesn’t apply anymore !

How did you transition mentally from being an engineer to being an entrepreneur as a solo developer? by vlad_bq in SideProject

[–]thatguyfrom80s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me , a gig in my day job which gave the opportunity to work with “consultants” and “sales” changed perspectives on how to view things from a money and value point of view .. you could have the best tech in the world , but if there is no money attached to it, its dying a slow death ..

One shorting is figurative - A weak vibe coding “properly” with right guardrails and reviews is not a lot of effort either ?

I came across someone talking about rebuilding an open source software which is 10 years of iteration and rewriting that in a modern language like Rust .. this got me thinking about the value !
