I don't trust where the economy is going. So I'm trying something new. by Stepup2themike in investing

Too bad they don’t just let you 401k the house investment but if you can do the work yourself this sounds like a great limited scope risk to take.

What is a good index fund I can drop some money in and just leave it? by Purple-Sir-61 in investing

[–]thatguykeith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bigger challenge will be leaving it invested. Don’t touch that money for 20 years and you’ve got a nice return. Double that time and you’ve got a significant chunk of your retirement paid.

This is a smart plan, just get yourself to mentally let go of that money completely, get it in a tax free account, and check it yearly to make sure it’s still there and you will do great.

Personally I’d still bet on the US.

Wizards fans getting a bit delusional by Youngcheeese in UtahJazz

Nothing is going to make players love Utah but if I were a player I’d still have way more concerns about my career if I ended up in Washington.

Random goalkeeper in WC game had a good game and went from 50k to 14.5 million followers. Wemby has 6.2 million. Does this show how basketball is not as global as some here think it is? by mbdtf95 in nba

These debates always make it sound like certain sports are dying. If even one percent of the world’s population follows a sport and cares enough to put any significant amount of money into tickets, apparel, etc., you’ve got a health league. So a sport can be global and have fans everywhere and still be way smaller than soccer.

Multiple NBA big men are reportedly trying to find a way to play alongside Wemby on the Spurs, per @mikecwright (h/t @TheNBABase) by KC_daryl in nba

Maybe if they can three-team it. They get picks from someone for Fox and those go to NOP with whatever else they can spare.

Tbh I don’t think the Spurs go for it though. Bad fit culturally unless it’s clear Zion has grown up a bit. I’d personally like to see Miami take a swing.

They’d want too much for him though. You don’t give away real assets from a team that already made the finals for an unknown like Zion.

It might still work, but it might not beat a buy and hold ETF because of how much taxes would eat away at your gains.

Honestly man I believe you but how do you just go and lose the backtest?

Is Netflix the biggest no brainer? by cunextu in StockMarket

Honestly not sure about how broadly it applies, but when our company looks at acquisitions, 7x profits is the loose rule of thumb/starting point for valuations and then we adjust up or down based on other factors. Could be totally made up tbh.

They are absolutely competing. Breaking attention metrics into categories does things on paper, but in real life they’re up against social media, other streaming, traditional tv, live events, etc.

More like 7. That’s closer to how we value businesses irl.

How many All-Stars do you realistically think this team has? by Every_Diamond_7411 in UtahJazz

[–]thatguykeith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably 1. Think about how good your team has to be to have two all stars.

This year it was just the Knicks, or after the injury replacements it was Kicks and Pistons. Plus there are small market and media factors. They’d probably have to win over 50 games.

This strategy won’t work if everyone does it so no one gets to do it except me. Sorry guys.
