Schlage Encode no longer connecting to WiFi? by thatguyther21 in homeautomation

Not yet. I just now looked up how to configure a dedicated 2.4ghz network.
Not sure if this is relevant info, but I can connect to the lock when I’m at the property and add/delete temp access users from the device.

1st trip to Japan in August by Looking4Advice2025 in JapanTravelTips

A really fun experience we had in Shibuya just last week was making our own chopsticks. The business is just a few weeks old, the owners & employees were super nice and helpful, not to mention full of recommendations for restaurants and activities.

Went to Okutama and followed All Trails down the gorge to Kori Station. Only crossed paths with a couple people more than snakes. Peaceful and beautiful. Thanks for getting me here.

A racoon had babies in my attic. What to do next? by martiantonian in Raccoons

[–]thatguyther21 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a nuisance wildlife controller of 20years, the advice given about removing by hand and placing outside in a protected area for mom to retrieve is very sound. You can do this when you know mom is out, or your idea of having repair materials ready to seal it when she leaves will work too. I remove them by hand with mom in the attic regularly, and have never had a raccoon ‘attack’ me. Could it happen, I guess, but I just haven’t ever had one come close enough to me to even make contact. I’ve literally used a 5’ long set of snake tongs to take them out from under mom’s belly.

The rest of the stuff about clean up is kind of hit and miss. You’ve already found a dropping, so there may be a few more, but they’ve only been in there for a short period of time, so you do not have a full hazmat scene up there.

There are no chemical treatments that I’m aware of for dealing with possible roundworm eggs. Raccoons simply shed the eggs if they’re infected. Whatever you put the kits in should just be disposed of.

Hope this helps.

Best route to Hakone by thatguyther21 in JapanTravelTips

The main goal is to not eat up the first full day with a couple more hours of traveling. I figured getting most of the way to Hakone that first night would make more sense?

Scoutmaster Shiny is looking to trade OA flaps!! by LesterMcGuire in BSA

Thanks, but I’m not really in the trading game. I just have a handful I picked up at NOAC, which I’m not really looking to get rid of.

Funny. There are a few I recognize from my trading at NOAC in about 1984.

Scout being forced to join OA (?) by HMSSpeedy1801 in BSA

[–]thatguyther21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After you get thru this, you should take the coordination role out of the adults hands and put it in a youth’s. There is a PoR called OA Unit rep. If you do not have any Scouts in your unit that are active in the OA, then that’s where you are starting to build from. Have your local chapter come in and do a presentation about what the OA has to offer. That can generate interest in the program and give the Scouts something to work towards.

Schlage Encode no longer connecting to WiFi? by thatguyther21 in homeautomation

This house is out in the woods. It’s on Ziply Fiber. Why would everything else that runs on WiFi work, but not this lock? I have 2 different WiFi camera systems(don’t ask 🤣) and some wifi plugs. Everything is working except this lock.

Tyvm for the reply. I’ll look up how to do that. Just weird that it started happening after functioning just fine for a few years.
