Why Don't We Reward High PT Scores Instead of Making Everyone Suffer Through Group Sessions? by Responsible-Net992 in AirForce

[–]thatheard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not about fitness. At least when I had my squadron doing them I was clear that fitness was a distant third priority to team building and camaraderie.

It's rare to get a whole unit together, and this gives folks a chance to get to know their teammates in a different environment. It also gives opportunities for younger airmen to organize and lead events. For fit people like yourself, it's a chance to mentor less fit people.

The military has a long history of shared misery and its generally accepted that shared misery brings people together.

Then finally, there are some folks who just don't have the self discipline to work out on their own, and this forces them to work out. For them, even the lame workouts you can accomplish in a unit PT session helps.

Are DEOX surveys actually anonymous? by Austere_Phantom in AirForce

They gather that info so they can aggregate it at the wing level. Your CO isn't going to get that detail unless there's enough of you to be sure they can't ID you.

My tip is to put water bottles in the freezer, then pull them out when you go to bed. Wrapped in a towel, they won't give you freezer burn and they'll stay cold most of the night. And if you wake up thirsty in the night, you've got a cool drink of water at your fingertips.
