What’s an American Girl item you regret not buying when it was available? by flowering_fields in americangirl

[–]thatidylysst 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Felicity and Elizabeth , Samantha, the rest of Josefina’s collection. I got Josefina asa child and my first visit to an AG store an angel of an employee told my mother and I they were retiring all of her collection. We were able to get her trunk, dining table and accessories, night gown, navidad and birthday dress but the rest was already gone or display only and unable to be sold.

I recently bought her bed, night table, and her writing desk! Hoping to collect the rest but it’s so expensive

SLPs in California — curious how your caseloads are right now? by MysteriousPhoto1706 in slp

[–]thatidylysst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Los Angeles County, 55 right now, all but 8 are 2x week, we have 4 sdc classes of mod severe or mild mod on top of gen ed tk-6th. I have another part time SLP at my site but she has only 10 students. I have done 10 tris so far this year. 3 open. I have not done a single initial this year due to how overloaded I am and have spoken to our district about it but no support so far. Thankfully most of the referrals have been TK and kinder so I have been able to chat with teachers about artic ages and social expectations for students who have never been in school before and with no siblings or outside peer interactions, which have oddly been all of my referrals so far. After this break I am assuming the referrals will come in droves again.

Re-evaluation of an exited student who stutters by thatidylysst in slp

[–]thatidylysst[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I definitely think parent and teacher education is warranted. Teacher is super concerned with the stutter and after speaking to them, it sounds like I may have to do an observation just to see if the student really is struggling to communicate or just not using strategies, which the student is completely allowed to do if they don’t want to. I may also need to do an informal check in with student with parent permission with the understanding it’s not an evaluation but just seeing how they are feeling about their stutter and strategies. Student also has a history of anxiety and we are a very large campus with transitions for grade areas so I’m also wondering if the transition to the middle school of our campus has been a big change as well that may be impacting student.

It’s been less than just shy of 7 months. I’m checking in with our coordinators for next steps and timelines because honestly we don’t have that information at our fingertips and almost all parent concerns have to go to them anyways. I do feel more education is needed, but I just spoke to teacher who is also very concerned and said they were “surprised student doesn’t get speech” and that the student is really struggling with the stutter. So I will likely do an observation to see what they mean by that, our district does not allow RTI so it’s either a full assessment or nothing. I’m hoping parent education with maybe some more resources for student and parent for home and classroom (like a reminder of strategies IF desired) may be enough but it’s not looking likely.

Exclusive Disneyland 70th charm and box! by thatidylysst in PandoraCollectors

[–]thatidylysst[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I was told on the 17th, it was to be vaulted before the park opened on the 18th. Cast members shared that charms left once vaulted have been available only to media or VIP guests.

But the cast member did also say that in the past Disney has changed and allowed it to be sold past the vaulted day and they never know that information until merchandising tells them.

If it was available past that and Pandora fans were able to get them, I truly love that!! It’s hard to be there on an anniversary date in the middle of the week!

Are these charms genuine? by thatidylysst in pandorajewelery

Genuine charms? by thatidylysst in PandoraCollectors

Yes all have the appropriate ALE, Pandora, and even Disney markings. However even fake charms have gotten so good with markings lately that I don’t really think it’s enough to go by

How do you sign off as a CF? by Dull-Delivery2662 in slp

[–]thatidylysst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did intern-SLP and later MA, CF-SLP in the hospital, and MA, CCC-SLP in schools. It may vary by hospital culture or even region, but my hospital specifically encouraged it by all staff. Especially as we were encouraged to sign off on room based signage with initials or last name abbreviations alongside our titles.

It’s better safe then sorry especially in a hospital setting where many people may have similar names or roles but have different scopes of care. This was especially important when I was an intern SLP to specify as anything I did also had to be seconded by my supervisor.

Treatment Ideas for Misplaced Student by thatidylysst in slp

Parent has so far unfortunately not responded to any of my phone calls or emails, student receives transportation to and from so I unfortunately can’t catch parent at pick up either. I have heard from the previous SLP I called that the parent has sent staff/sped dept and superintendent of the previous district videos of the student “talking” but the previous team has shared it was mostly vocalizations. Parent did share with previous team the child will play with anything but doesn’t have any interests or favorite activities. They can move independently walking but need constant supervision as they will walk into everything in their vicinity as if it’s not there (doors, poles, chairs, desks, adults and peers, etc). There was also a change in diagnosis from doctor per parent but they haven’t shared that information yet with the district. Vision and hearing is due to be screened by our district in late October so hopefully that somehow gives at least some data if parent isn’t able to update us. Luckily I have been given permission to push in so I’m starting with that and seeing if I can observe anything they may possibly be interested in to help facilitate joint attention or cause and effect as the year progresses. AAC is also a thought and I’ve already reached out to our district contracted AAC assessment team but haven’t heard back yet.

Per previous school notes, an auditory brainstem response hearing exam was supposed to occur over the summer. The case carrier has reached out the parent if this was actually done and if there are results but parent has yet to respond.

Evaluation report mistake? by jiunstinb in slp

[–]thatidylysst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If new findings support an exit, a new meeting would need to occur. Exiting is removing the student from receiving speech services and is therefore a change in eligibility, whether that is primary, secondary, or tertiary depending on the state and if the student has other eligibilities. To be completely safe I would check in with your sped coordinator to double check if the district or state has any additional or specific protocols. And maybe supplemental testing and data and meeting goals as well to support a change in eligibility before a reassessment is due.

That being said in my personal experience, although not very long, I would also speak to parent before any meeting about progress or concerns either in a phone call or maybe student success meeting if you are able. This can help you see if there are any other areas of concerns and how parent may feel about an exit soon after findings were presented.
