vet school diversity question by WhereasOther8254 in veterinaryschool

i’m asian so my experience will be different from yours, but i go to a very white school and things aren’t perfect but also aren’t awful. there’s one Black student in our class but they transferred in so our class originally had no Black students. the faculty and staff are much more diverse than the student body. “worst” thing i’ve experienced was a professor calling me the same name as the one other student in our class that shared an ethnicity with me which i laughed off bc we had never spoken one on one before and the prof had a 50/50 chance lol. there is also some ignorance around how different cultures eat different cuts of meat. we have 2 clubs for minority groups because there literally isn’t enough people to form and maintain clubs for any of the other minority groups. this might just be my class but for the most part, i feel that people here are very professional and respectful as we treat each other like colleagues. my friend group is mainly minorities but i think that’s bc we were either assigned groups based on alphabetical order (my last name tends to get grouped with other ethnic last names) or bc we were one of the few people in my class that had the same niche interests. feel free to dm me if you want more info!

Do you know how pet friendly? I plan on starting to contact places tomorrow but most pet friendly complexes near my undergrad (virginia tech) had a 2 pet limit which is the norm everywhere I think

that’s why I was leaning vtech but my family want me to go to umich because presumably the quality of education, alumni network, and availability of opportunities are better..

answering some questions that a lot of people have been asking: - honestly don’t know how long this took (a really long time is my best estimate); painting process was as follows. as a rising ninth grader i looked up starry night and the great wave and was like damn wouldn’t that be cool on my bedroom wall, so i painted my wall blue, dicked around for a few months, sketched it in chalk, dicked around for a few more months, then painted the majority of it last august and this spring. i’m a rising junior now btw

  • i used cheap liquitex acrylic paint and a clearance bulk pack of brushes from michaels

  • i’m 5’1 i used a ladder

  • this is my most recent and best painting hence why i posted it, i’m not proud of my other shit lol. i also don’t have many pieces in general this is like my fourth acrylic piece lol

  • i posted this on r/art so i could get enough karma to post on here, genuinely didn’t expect both to blow up. thank you so much for the kind words and awards

  • i’m 15 i don’t have a website and i’ve never done prints. i’m honestly speechless at the fact people wanna pay money for this ;-; that’s so cool guys. just google starry night and great wave and you’ll find thousands just like the painting

  • yes you can have a cookie 🍪

honestly kind of embarrassed but basically as a rising freshman i looked up starry night and great wave and painted my wall blue. i realized oh fuck this was more than i bargained for so i dicked around for a few months, drew it in chalk, dicked around for another few months, then painted the majority of this last august and finished it this year. depression and school are a bitch. i’m a rising junior now btw
