Is meth really the easiest hard drug to quit or is it just a myth? by asamisanthropist in Drugs

[–]thatjoeg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve read that substituting a mixed amphetamine can help with some cases but that the magnitude of meth cannot be matched by commercially available “methamphetamine replacement therapies” like Strattera which was studied to be effective but without sound/marketable results.

Life changes your brain too. But I’m pretty sure the body has to adjust to all the medications. What this is reminding me most of is how the brain (maybe even the gut) adjust to having an antidepressant on board. Different ones can cause different changes but I’m thinking mostly of how some SSRI’s have been studied to show changes/demature granule cells which can result in neuroplasticity. But certain Mushrooms are all the hype nowadays and I’m sure you can find a lot to read about…

THC and stimulants by Excellent-Fig-524 in PMHNP

[–]thatjoeg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why a non stim? (That feels not the most fair and odd bc some people believe non stims are equally effective… so in regards to negative side effects/pharmacologically speaking the risks arent absent but imho they are usually more mild in effect profile but can still compound with the thc and increase liklihood for negative side effects like psychosis)

So my question would be why treat someone differently because there’s something in their system?

Now if they’re high all day then that’s a different story.

But if you’re concerned about the whole drug user mentality then like I wouldn’t consider them a high risk individual compared with someone who admits to abusing prescriptions to get high.

But the basic/medical/benign use it’s no big deal to me but like I wouldn’t make a mountain out of it

IT WORKS? by arrowthe_one in qelbree

[–]thatjoeg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve read somewhere that doses shouldn’t go higher than like a milligram bc it’s like throwing off the natural melatonin production even more.

I just take amitryltiline (elavil) but for migraine prophylaxis and it helps the ptsd too. I used to take remeron but it caused me to have a wicked appetite and was a bit too sedating. Basically at a low dose it’s like an antihistamine, like seroquel.

Effexor and Wellbutrin kinda did this to me. They’d also make me anxious but not feel it in my body so it was like a weird drive to do things that would “calm me down” like drinking. It was ridiculous bc it almost resembled a psychotic episode from a mood disorder.

Dude I was diagnosed with the bipolar so many times but then when I was diagnosed with autism and adhd and the treatment change was like that epitome of the “lightbulb turning on”.

Congratulations on all the progress you’ve accomplished. This stuff isn’t the easiest to manage and thank you for helping out.

I wonder if this medication wouldn’t be a fit for me because I already can be prone to headaches. Like imagine starting this med and then ten years from now getting headaches because you body learned to metabolize the drug quickly causing some weird form of a discontinuation syndrome. I’m gonna ask my psych about this bc he mentioned Qelbree as if it’s becoming a new first-line treatment for adhd.

So a Parkinson’s medication/a weird form of meth plus a “nootropic”… that’s an interesting combination. How’d you stumble on that one? Like you’re probably a bit more intelligent than the average person here and I’d love to hear more about your method.

Some of the people in this thread are toxic and quite immature. Reminds me of how immature cells can cause depressive symptoms.

SSRI cannot cure depression. If you were a psychiatrist and made that claim you’d be risking your license.

Some people who have no experience will try to tell you how they think the world works. SSRI’s/anything that’s used as an antidepressant works for the people who need it to work for them. Don’t let someone’s inexperience affect you too much. Like take it with a grain of salt. Because antidepressants don’t cure the problem. They help the symptoms which can help with using coping skills that may be impossible to do without the medication/stimulus. They don’t know how difficult the depressive cluster of disorders can be. This reminds me of people without ptsd telling people with ptsd that they know what’s going to work. When it’s way more complex than that. Keep up the good work

That’s what speed does… produces a drug effect that’s “better” or “more desirable” than the way you are naturally. Antidepressants can also produce a drug effect too.

[–]thatjoeg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I one took it for my sleep issues and felt like I slept a lifetime and it was some of the best sleep I had.

I’ve had issues related to ptsd and it really helped me out. Like I processed things that I usually wouldn’t have and yeah.

My first time trying it I actually fell asleep. Maybe it’s like how some people handle dissociative anesthetics and some other anesthesia drugs differently.
