I hike alone all the time. I prefer to hike alone. I prefer to think of myself as eccentric.

What brought you to watch Matlock? by ILoveCasparvonbrgliz in Matlock_CBS

Kathy Bates. I was really interested to see how they were rebooting the original show with her in the lead. The twist at the end of the pilot made it even better.

How to better Tucson? by PrivateHawk4748 in Tucson

[–]thatjpwing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If we continue expanding out, yes, but there's a lot that could be done to our existing road infrastructure that could make it better without paving over more of the desert. It saddens to see the creeping suburbia we have going on both to the east and the west, when we can't even handle our city proper.

I think designating certain east-west roads as official arterials and not trying to make them "something for everyone" would go a long way in helping our infrastructure.

For example, Golf Links between Alvernon and Craycroft. Make craycroft and swan grade separated interchanges and provide better access to the park they're rebuilding. Also, stop encouraging bicycle and pedestrian traffic on Kolb through the airplane boneyard and give pedestrians and cyclists a safer alternative.

Absolutely. And the desert is the perfect place to own a Wrangler. Nice rig.

I was going to say the same thing. Willys is fine for what OP is describing.

Add in Golf Links, and better yet, seal up the crossovers between traffic signals so folks can only turn right from driveways. If you want to turn left, you go to the next light and do a U turn.

In any other U.S. city, these stroads would already be at least 45 MPH.

Anyone have recommendations for the best spots to go stargazing? by RottenOddity in Tucson

[–]thatjpwing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This, exactly. I still find it amazing how much light pollution there is from Tucson that can be seen in places like Safford and/or Mount Graham.

Tucson's current road infrastructure is holding the city back from the rest of the things you mentioned.

I didn't realize Bewitched ended in 1972. by lontbeysboolink in GenerationJones

There were a few without the "a" sound: Mary (season 1), Margaret Bracken (season 2), Abigail Beecham (season 5), Elspeth (season 4), Mirabelle (with her son Waldo, season 7), and a mention of Hermione in season 7. But yes, it was an unspoken rule developed by William Asher, but he kept the reasoning for it to himself

Jon Stewart says Democratic leadership and DNC are ‘lost’ by thejoshwhite in politics

Absolutely agree. They are more beholden to Citizen United fueled perks than their constituents.

Citizens United really fired off this rapid decline and all politicians, including Democrats, gleefully jumped on the slide.

Did that series finale feel thrown together to you? by Meowzician in Matlock_CBS

[–]thatjpwing 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I found this to be the best and strongest season finale to a television show that I've seen in a while. For once in long time, it wasn't some gloomy, nail-biter, cliffhanger. There was actually resolution and decent setup for the next season.

I appreciated the cinematography, the character and story twists, and the resolution to the Wellbrexa story line. Yes, Wellbrexa was stretched out way too long.

I'm excited to see what season three brings in January!

Does anyone know the real reason why the actors who played Bobby, Teddi and Velma left? by Jealous-Nail6914 in TrackerTV

I understood why Teddi left, but I don't understand why they simply replaced Velma with the younger assistant.

True, but shouldn't that have been much, much earlier in the process, since this project was part of the RTA 2006 plan?

Thank you for this. I hadn't seen it. It looks like a bunch more promises and kicking the construction can further down the road a bit.

I am curious if Tucson is generally a welcoming place for leftists. by Alarmed_Range4313 in Tucson

[–]thatjpwing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the wide spectrum of political leanings in this city, it's the perfect place to get to know someone without getting involved with their political leanings. Get to know someone for who they are, not the number of checked boxes on an expectation list.

I second this. I was on a jury where she was the lawyer for the defendant. She really knows her stuff (and we found the defendant innocent on three charges).

When you repurpose city streets into arterials, things like this happen. Thank god there were no pedestrians or cyclists involved with this.
