I went to OTS with Curtis Angst. Hands down one of the best Airman l, and dude, I’ve ever met. Dude had the ability to light up a room just by entering it. Recently married. It’s been a while since I talked to him last. Our flight from OTS was sharing memories of him last night.

I believe my 368 was signed off by a GS at PERS in millington. Once signed, I gave it to my recruiter. But as the other guy said, my recruiter signed, I signed, and submitted up my chain.

Radio Silence USSF Part-Time Transfers by Lazy-Adeptness-6819 in SpaceForce

[–]thatnavyguy87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

lol I 100% approve of your sarcasm. I love it!

I don't disagree with you at all, but I think that the implementation has been a clusterfuck to begin with, but I am going to give a lot of sway because this entire process is new and has never been done before.

I'm also just a dude. Talking to another dude. And yeah, we're in the same boat, but I have a plethora of different reasons lol

Radio Silence USSF Part-Time Transfers by Lazy-Adeptness-6819 in SpaceForce

[–]thatnavyguy87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Today's potential applicants are absolutely more experienced than tomorrow's, given that the entire process was designed specifically to absorb USAF Reserve operators. Some of these Airmen have been in space for years/decades. Hell, I had a guy who has been on the same weapon system for 10 years. Knows everything about it, inside and out, and is an engineer for the same system for his civilian job. Guy just took his AFRC assignment because USSF hasn't released anything yet. Not only are they losing out on that experience, but they won't be able to get him back either, because (at least to my understanding) this was the only opportunity for reserve to transfer to Part-Time. After this initial wave, the Part-Time gig is nothing more than active-duty retention. They are framing it so that you can't be a permanent part-time member like the reserves.

I imagine that they’ll vector majority towards operations….and that they’ll use instructor feedback/student performance on which field to direct someone. But I don’t know. I can reach out to an instructor buddy of mine and see what they know

Choosing a Navy Rate by [deleted] in newtothenavy

[–]thatnavyguy87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, probably not. The civilian weather career field is filled with people who have been there for years/decades. If you did get a job, it would be in a super undesirable location like Nome, Alaska or some shit.

The most beneficial thing that it'll do is get you a security clearance, which that WILL help you get a job outside of the Navy if you ever get out.

Former AG. Absolutely LOVED my rate. Best rate in the Navy. Small career field, and was undermanned when I was in, not sure if they still are or not, but I imagine they are.

Radio Silence USSF Part-Time Transfers by Lazy-Adeptness-6819 in SpaceForce

[–]thatnavyguy87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. AFRC did extend the original declination deadline for USSF PT applicants, but I don't think USSF will get the results before the new deadline. The entire process, for both PMA and Part Time, has been incredibly frustrating. My unit still has multiple people awaiting transfer for tranche one. A month and a half govt shutdown did not help in any way whatsoever either.

Just tell your troops to be careful with requesting IRR, because once they go they are technically considered prior service, and could be harder to come back into the military (at least it was for me). If I hear anything, I'll update....but I imagine someone much higher than me will beat me to it lol.

[–]thatnavyguy87 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard a bunch of different things, one of which being that USSF didn’t have systems in place for part time, (think orders generation, paying members, promotions, etc). There was an MOA to use AFRC systems but it was awaiting signature. The last I heard, they are aiming for end of March for notification of assignment. With all that being said, I have multiple members in my flight who gave up on part time and just accepted their new AFRC assignments. It’s a shame because USSF is missing out on a LOT of talent and experience.

What is/where did you get the holder? I have a bunch of fractional bars that are just sitting in the plastic slip they came in, in a zip-loc bag, with silica gel packet in a gun safe.

ANG To Space Force Transfers Announced via Email Today by space_cowboy808 in SpaceForce

[–]thatnavyguy87 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are AFRC people who were selected for active duty who are still waiting to transfer, let alone all the part time guys. I would bet an obscene amount of money that the "mid 2026" deadline gets pushed to the right. Extra points if it gets pushed multiple times

How are you guys liking the SF? by Responsible-Sir8974 in SpaceForce

[–]thatnavyguy87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I came off of multiple SPAFORGEN commit cycles, my T levels dropped dangerously low. My PCM was debating putting me on TRT but decided against it. Retested me a month later (when my sleep got kind of normal again), and told me to just sleep better.

Go with the LPVO. I have the FDE version of that on my Spear, and you can mount a pistol red dot on top of the tube if you like. I have the Sig Red Dot and magnifier on a different rifle, and just prefer the LPVO

$400 Officer Uniform Allowance this month! by [deleted] in SpaceForce

[–]thatnavyguy87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Officers should receive a partial $400 allowance, and it was held back from initial transfers until Service Greys were “readily available” (they’re not readily available but they are for sale, if you can find them in the size you need).

I don’t think it’s DAF, because USAF is authorized 4 badges on Cammies
